The 4-Tans phenomenon happens once in a blue moon, or whenever a flash-flood caused by a strong thunderstorm occurs. Therefore, don't be a 笨Tan and vote wisely.

Introduction

(Hi, my name is…)

--------------------

Thank you so much for being part of SBF, and part of the I.T.inerary forum. This sub-forum was indeed created by bikers, for bikers like us.

Nowadays, it's been hot lately. I knew for sure because 2 days ago in the afternoon my right leg near my pelvic area felt warm. Then I realised that my iPhone has been left powered on with Google Maps running.

In between back-room server checks, I also performed some desktop supporting on the commercial floor. I was very lucky to encounter a computer idiosyncrasy:

- Roxio disk burning software - When duplicating a DVD, you normally have to insert DVD #1 containing what you wanna duplicate, then insert a blank DVD #2 to write to it. For this particular poor user, Roxio kept on spitting the empty DVD-R out and complaining "Please insert a DVD".

Upon further investigation, Roxio was actually expecting a normal DVD-R just like DVD #1 was, and not a twice-the-capacity DVD-R 'Dual Layer' disc.

Whoever created the "Please insert a DVD" message should rewrite it as "This is my dog's food bowl", and aimlessly leave the house without ever feeding the dog.

Useless IT Facts

--------------------

- While it took the radio 38 years, and the television a short 13 years, it took the World Wide Web only 4 years to reach 50 million users. Must be the abundance of bikinigals available online that caused an increase in crowds tenfold.

- Statistics: For every normal webpage, there are 5 p0rn pages.

IT issues

--------------------

In the week leading up to the 4-day Tans' holiday, people have been posting these threads in ITinerary:

Bro @kaiq was bewildered when 6 HTC smartphones left in a paper bag switched themselves on. While we can rule out stuff that happens during the 7th month (touch wood), anyone knows what the issue is? [reply!]

The iPad is a wonderful tablet computing device, and @pyrroglaux wants to take it a step further. He asks this simple question of whether he can enable the iPad to also function like an external hard drive to store files onto it. Pitch in with your suggestions or cool apps that can do all this -- without jailbreaking [reply!]

Yes. I still use Win XP for two simple reasons. Its light and it is compatible with many programs. Seeing that Win 7 is like an upgraded and updated version of Vista, i think Microsoft should make another OS just like XP. Light, portable and simple with all the necessary security upgrades.

I do have 7 running on my laptop. I find it too be too heavy for me. Even after dumbing down everything to make it look "normal". The thing is, i'm still running my AMD Athlon XP 2000+ Socket A rig and Win 7 will definitely be too laggy on it.
