Hi Obsession, S4 maintenance & FC is confirm higher than any cruiser bikes. S4: 3 bottles of engine oil, air filter, oil filter, 4 spark plug, 6 brake pads, chain & coolant. Any cruisers: 3 bottles of engine oil, 2 spark plug, air filter, oil filter, 4 brake pads, coolant & chain.

For my recommendation for 2A cruisers: Get those which are shaft driven as they can last you long trips without worries. I'm riding a suzuki boulevard 400, carb model & shaft driven. Comfortable and smooth ride.

Just my 2 cents worth of knowledge.

These are mainly old bikes, so their consumption would be anywhere between 17-22km/l. (Though bro HYDHER's Stted can hit 27km/l, check out with him)

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

Most of the Honda Shadow Phantom is 750 cc and above but there is a version that is 400cc and is being sold in Australia. From the picz it look slightly different but not sure if it is just minor cosmetic difference or big difference between VT400S and Shadow Phantom 400cc.

Sorry..... you are correct. I checked the website again. It is called VT400 and i mistaken it for Shadow Phantom as I was too engrossed with the Shadow Phantom.

Nice thread, right into the topic I'm looking in for.

Not talking about specs, maintenance and others just purely bike design/appearance/style. I really like steed/shadow and also super4 for 2A ride. As i just start riding not too long,I don't really have much knowledge on bike. People said this and that...

But like what bro HYDHER said

But if your heart is on a cruiser.... ;)

Just like to ask a few more questions.

Is it a bit harder to squeeze through traffic? If I'm set on cruiser which trustworthy shop/place to look around?

We just had a metric cruisers meet up today

close to 15 bikes from singaporebikes went to kota tinggi,

A brand new shadow is about 17k... so with the coe high now is 19k.

New shadow less powerful but the fuel consumption is better.

Dual pipes.

Market price should be about 4k for a used shadow hahaha.

Dragstar 400 classic & Zx6r

to me, its a simple case of you got how much money, you buy wat you like.

all cruiser are pretty much quite good machine, shadow, steed, harely.

the rest goes to your luck, if 2nd hand it will spoilt sooner, if new machines, it will come after afew yrs. (but if you suay, new machine also many problem)

so.... but something you like, and you can afford.

Depending on ur cruiser bike type & handlebar.

If ur cruiser bike is a classic-type like shadow400, dragstar400 classic, HD Fatboy so on & with wide-bars then you may not squeeze in-between cars like S4.

If ur cruiser bike like sportsters, steed400, intruder400, Rebel250, VT400 so on & using straight bars or dragbars, squeezing like a S4 depends on how big ur balls are. :thumb:

Bros, may gathered your experience with the shadow 400. Like max speed, pickup, maintenance, fuel consumption. ..etc.. I'm thinking if I should get a shadow or a cb400x.

I am considering the same too, whether to go with CB400X or Shadow/Steed. I like cruiser, but never really try one, so not really sure if it is easy/good to ride for a "newbie" like me. I just gotten my 2A few days ago. Haven't been riding for years since I got my 2B. In fact, haven't bought any bike before. So, am quite clueless about bike. Would like to get something easy to try for a year or two. If feel good, will likely to get a Class 2 license and get a bigger & better cruiser, if it really suit me. Btw, I am not looking so much into speed, but comfort in riding.

But one of the thing about getting a Shadow/Steed is that they are generally much older bike (compare to CB400X where I likely can only get a new one), I am just worry about the maintenance/servicing issues. Likely hate the idea of going to workshop every now and then to make sure it work.

Any advice for me? Thanks.
