A private diploma in a private institution. Or even degree level. Is it worth ? How recognize is the cert in the current market ?

I've came across many negative comments regarding private education and their institutes. Or which they failed to secure a job even after obtaining the degree cert. And also comments from employer that the cert is not that recognize in their company. So it is really worth the money spend to take up part - time studies in private institutes ?

MDIS. KAPLAN. PSB. and other private institutes.

How much difference compared to local diploma/ degree in pay scale ?

Do big companies in different lines recognize the cert from private institutes ?

Anyone with real life experience, been through this situation, care to spill some beans ?

I'm sure there's a lot of us here who is looking forward to upgrade ourselves for a better future.

Opinions/thoughts are welcome. Thanks

my guess is it wld depend of the field of study..

eg: a business grad from a pte uni wldnt be sort out as much as a grad from a local uni?

whereas for myself, i took a pte deg in nursing from Curtin University, a field that is not so common thus the response i get from companies with my nursing degree is on par with those with a nursing degree from a local uni...

just my 2cts worth

Private diploma: No. Why? Look at the awarders of these diplomas. They are usually issued by the private schools themselves, and therefore do not possess any real recognition from anyone.

Private degree: To a large extent yes. Look for reputable universities, which you had heard of (which would also mean that your employer would know of also). For these universities, reputation is more important than actual ranking. E.g. Monash/Murdoch university is sure going to be prized over XXX university which ranks higher, but unheard of by anyone in Singapore.

The only private degree awarded by local private education provider would be uniSIM.

To a significant extent yes. Search for renowned educational institutions that you are familiar with (which would also mean that your employer would know of also). Reputation is more significant than actual ranking for these particular educational institutions.
