Buying lisence plates at high price

y are ppl so interested in buying license plates no. at high price? wats the procedure of selling license plate? and also how do you guys determined the price of the no plate? issit by the heng2 no then can get high price? like that i also want to sell ar mine..

The price is really determined by individual. Some buy the number due to superstious or maybe represent a birthday of a loved one. Or some simply just want an "Identity" for their bike.

 

As for the process, I think should be just go LTA to do the transfer. However if your bike is under hire purchase, it better to check with your bike shop.

Some consider it as an investment and resell it once they found someone who is willing to pay higher.

The bike number you wished to buy from must not be under hire purchase. Your bike must not be under hire purchase too.

 

Lets say your bike is FBF 1234. The seller is F 1W. Normally the selling price is exclusive of LTA transfer fee. In this instance, seller wanna sell 20000.

 

1. Both of you meet at LTA.

2. Fill up the LTA form

3. Counter will transfer his bike to you first, follow by transferring back the bike to him and issued him a new number plate.

4. Counter will then deregistered your current bike number and replace by the F 1W.

5. You pay 1300 to LTA and 20000 to seller.

6. You must replace the number plate within 5 working days.

i wouldn't mind paying a premium for my desired number plate but then again it is all up to individual preference
