Are you sick and tired of losing your way on the roads?

Are you sad over not being able to afford mounts on your bike?

Are you just depressed over how some mounts promise a lot but do very little, like certain governments, your girlfriend, your boss?

Fear not.

Lim peh is here today to teach you how to make your own IU mounted GPS holder. It's damn tok kong, even tua pek kong also tio chua!

IMAG0380.jpg

SIBEI TOK KONG RIGHT???????????

you will need:

1x 3M Fasteners (either velcro(normal) or the mushroom head type (heavy duty)

1x handphone case/cover/gps cover

1x scissors to cut

My first design was using the 3m velcro, and i've tested it on speeds up to 100kmph and it holds but if you wanna be extra safe, go for the heavy duty ones.

IMAG0374.jpg

ok, clean the IU cover, and measure the width and length appropriately so it fits. do the same for your phone cover. Make sure the alignment of the fastener is correct, it won't work as well if the hooks or loops or mushroom heads are not aligned properly.

IMAG0378.jpgIMAG0379.jpg

ok, now that's done. test the strength by putting your phone in the cover and attach it. try tugging and pulling to see if the adhesive will come off or if it holds very weakly.

another tip i have for those using the heavy duty fasteners is not to fasten the mushroom heads fully. it will stick too strong and when you take it off, might peel the adhesive along with it. just fasten the 4 corners and the center and you're good to go.

For those using the slim IU, one strip along the entire cover should be strong enough to hold as well, just make sure its secured fully.

SO NOW, you don't have to spend 200 over dollars getting Ram mounts and can instead spend that money on your ugly, materialistic girlfriend's new dress, push up bra, manicure etc.

Of course if your IU is mounted not in front of you, then too bad.

I'm awesome, thank you.

i'm too cheapskate to spend that amount of money.

besides, the damn thing so big, might block view of speedo etc.

total cost of the 3m dual lock only like 6 bucks from Homefix. and the cover maybe 10 bucks? a dollar saved is a dollar earned, they say.

No, not really. I rarely get lost. Singapore is way too small to get lost. Unless you're in Malaysia and beyond, then perhaps.

I do not get sad easily. How can someone be sad if someone is not being able to mount stuff on his bike? Seriously, if get easily sad, must get checked out at IMH.

But useful DIY instructions i must say!!! :cheeky:

Ok la. It is still cheaper than ram mount. And at least during sudden heavy downpours, I can find a spot to stop safely to remove my phone.

Since the heavy duty Velcro doesn't come off easily, it should be hard to remove it while riding.

Phones nowadays spoils easily, especially when it comes in contact of water. Phones don't come cheap :(

i tried it while riding in the rain before. light drizzles no problem, heavy downpour better not. of course, if you want waterproof....easy ah! just put the ziplock bag over it!
