2.6l is the correct amount for engine oil. But are you sure 4000km for fully synthetic? My friend told me can stretch to 12000km!?!?

U got ur bike from Aljunied Motorworks, right? I was looking at that bike previously. Found it was sold but later got the same Dragstar with the orange paintjob.

 

Got lotsa modding to do but I gez, I leave it to upgrading to a 1100cc or a Kawa Vulcan 900LT...

I change my EO at Rosli and he advised me to just use 3L. That's what he does when he changed my EO. So, I trust the expert and he's made my baby well again.

 

Also, if your bike is quite old for mine a 7 yrs old, shld just use Semi Synthetic.

Okay, I may try semi-synthetic at my next change as my bike is even older. So, how long will it last?

well dont know if anyone had tried until 12000 km but if you ever do , do info us if it works lol

which brand of semi you are using? dont know which brand good leh , but why not the fully instead?

I think it was a Castrol. Some black bottle. Rosli uses only some specific brands. He said cruisers due to the V-Twin engine, works harder than Inline-4s and a thicker viscous EO will do good in lubricating the pistons.

 

If U know abt HDs, they use only minerals due to the thick viscosity of the EO..

ehem....my ex Steed used to run more than 12000km on Full Syntetic.

During that time I was still a greenhorn on bike maintenance.

Anyway, it still run as good. No hiccups tho.

 

My advice.........only if u are damn damn broke, u can delay the EO change. If not, close to 6000km better go change.(recommended by YamahaUSA) Cos the oil becomes thinner & no protection for the moving metal parts. Enjin also get hot faster. Some oil will evaporate, if u dun check the level it might run dry!!

 

aS RECOMMENDED BY yAMAHA: Evry 6000km change EO also clean or replace air filter.

Evry 12000km change Oil filter and spark plug.

nopes, I dun service there. Even more, when I found out on my own that they dunno how to service V-Twins. Quite some probs with my Draggie but Rosli rectified it all just by hearing the engine sound. Spent a day at Rosli & it's well, alive & kicking!

Probably one would need to check the oil dipstick often ensuring the oil doesn't drop below the recommended level if intended to run until 12,000km. In my opinion, it is better to change the engine oil as recommended by the manual.

get well soon dude . from AMK you can go by the yio chu kang there to the lentor road then at the junction of the end of the long lentor road there , turn right and ride all the way in

if not,u can go on expressway,CTE amk and exit at yishun exit.

after exiting at yishun exit,keep to the right cos u need to turn right at the 1st cross juction.

after tat,u just go all the way and its the dam already.

or if not,if u want,i can meet up with u 1st for drinks.
