Currently how my cb400 cafe looks. haven got the time to do a proper seat yet..

BRO. Is your tank bare metal finish?? Or did u spray it matt silver... Mine is very very similar!

I also doing up my CB400 tracker project. How are u doing the seat? I am still trying to find the best way to do the seat (not gonna cut frame).

BTW your tyre are AMAZING :) Passable??

I just got a chrome rear fender.. still planning how to attach to my frame. I am thinking of modifying stock S4 rear fender, chop the mud flap part, and connect a chrome one (with integrated tail light). I just got one from scrap yard today.

PM me bro! We are doing very similar projects :)

Don't do that bro....hahahaha

May i suggest to bolt the fender to the frame going across from left to right? a tracker shld have a single fender with brake light imho. A fren of mine took this pic.

Tink its an xjr street tracker. Look! No fender or mudguard at all!

Thanks for the props man.

The tank is painted with rubber paint, followed by metal finish and given a burnt look to it before i lacquered the whole thing. I used rubber paint as base coat so that I can easily peel off this paint layer if i wanna change looks. haha

As for the seat, I bought another spare seat cos I wanted to use the original locking mechanism of the bike. i cut the foam down to make it as low as possible. Im currently shaping a pillow t make the final seat shape before i send it for stitch wrap, but i haven got the time to do this step just yet.

I kept the original stock seat for inspection purposes. Same goes for the rear mudguard. bought another one and shaped it down.

kept the rear fairings for inspections. I am not doing any frame cutting cos I will need to fix the rear fairings back on for inspection purposes. The vehicle inspection system is there in place, so no point playing with it. get extra parts and mod those instead.

Tyres passed inspection after i showed them the website that stated these tyres are dual sport ones i.e. suitable for road use. he let me off after that. He did say my clip-ons are not original bars too but he let me off on that as well. basically, when i go for inspections, the only things i didnt change were the tyres, fork boots and clip ons. the rest of the bike gets reverted to stock.

ive been on this project for like 1.5 years now. haha cos im doing it myself and been rather busy.

Post up pics of your bike too man! we wanna see it!

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

Thanks for your PM. Yes, probably best to keep the messages within this chat thread so info is shared...

--Point noted about connecting a chrome mudguard to the original plastic one. It is definitely dangerous if it fails / falls off!! The only reason why I wanted to do this, was because i wanted to reuse the mounting mechanism of the original rear mudguard. But you are right about just attaching the fender direct to frame. Fenders clutter up the look of the bike, but I will probably install one a long fatass one for safety and also not to attract too much attention. I may try to get a used NC36 chrome mudguard like this pic:

http://userdisk.webry.biglobe.ne.jp/005/046/70/N000/000/000/124522531226116129396_CA3A0923.JPG

Either that, or a triumph one like sprint74s!

--Definitely not cutting the frame. I too have bought spares for seat + rear fender so I can reinstall all stock parts for inspection.

--For the seat, I'm trying my best to Flatten AND lower it. I hope to achieve the old-school flat "uncle" style straight lines, so the bike doesn't look so aggressive. Basically this kind of look:

http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b595/DanielReyer/P1010635_zps109ed413.jpg

Unfortunately given Super4's aggro shape, this is not easy. To achieve FLAT, like you said, the only way is to make the front part of seat thicker, and then progressively thinner towards the end. To achieve LOW, I have no choice but to try and make my own DIY pan. I originally wanted to reuse the plastic base of the original seat, but unfortunately the original seat is too high. I also tried to re-use the original seat bolt mechanism. But the mecahnism also means raising everything by 2 cm. So I guess I will forego this convenience feature for now. Right now I'm trying to make a DIY fibreglass pan. My vision is this fibreglass pan will be "universal" and i can attach on different cushions as and when I want. Dunno if I'll be able to DIY it. Will def post pics of the process if it is a success.

--Thanks for tips on what to do when change to bigger tyres. When you say "shift axle backwards" does this just mean u shift it backwards within the "gap" that allows you to tighten your chain? Or did you mod the entire swingarm and shift it backwards?

--Your "burnt look" is awesome :):) did you really burn it or is it a spray on effect? haha. From the way you do your "burn strokes" you are a talented artist man...

--Last but not least, I'm surprised that there are so few super4 cafe / tracker mods! As far as I know, I've only seen 3 on this forum (yours, sprint74, and one more guy). Given that super4 is singapore's most popular bike, I hope to see more!!! :p

Bro sprint74,

Is that a thruxton fender? I'm looking for a replacement one for my PB1. This one looks like a good candidate... Saw a few on ebay...

I bought a GN250 one at the scrap yard.. But I feel it might be too small (narrow) :(

The front headlight gotta extended bracket for the quarter fairing and the triumph tail light assembly didn't pass too.
