Hi Guys, after installing my RG rear hugger, front fender extender and HB rear rack and box this weekend, I noticed a tapping or knocking sound whenever I slow down. The frequency seems to go according to the movement of my front wheel. I checked it but there seems to be nothing obstructing the wheel.

Is this normal?

check the r&g hugger, mine was too close to the chain and it has been rubbing against the hugger for quite a long time... trim the hugger

Thanks kmjoe. Will check it out.

i think run in period is 4-5k cant remember, make it 5k just in case :cheeky:

I would have to agree with kmjoe on this. In my personal experience, the bike felt totally broken in 'and might still be breaking in' after 5000km. Reason being simply gear shift went from a very rough 'clunk' during every gear change to a nice 'snick' during my 4500km. I'm in my 5000km now and running on mineral oil still and I will update you guys if it gets any smoother with fully synthetics.

Anyone with good fully synthetics to recommend?

dont think rear brake are suppose to be strong for safety issues, they are ment for slowing down only :cheeky:

The way this bikes's Combined ABS works, when you tap on either of the brakes, the system also applies a proportional pressure on the other brake.

Coming from my ol'ST's old-school brakes, I did felt that the ABS brakes seemed rather weak initially.

That is, until you realised that you do not have to feather those ABS brakes.

Have to factor in that wonderful resin coating Honda applied to the interior of our bike's engine too.

Our bike have a lot less engine braking prowess so the rear brake has to do more work as a result.

Goo

Hi bro I don't think the front brakes are combined. Only the rear brake pedal is combined with the front. The front brake is independent.

as mentioned before, this bike is selling pretty fast... a 2nd hand is very rare to come by, people can even wait for months to get their brand new NC

Hi fellow riders, I've just collected my NC700X about 3 weeks back. Currently still running in at 600km. I noticed that whenever I shift into the 6th gear, the bike would have a strong vibration. Much like when riding a bike at low speed and low rpm.. But in 6th gear, I'm riding about 80+kph. The vibration only gets better when I ride near to 100kph. Is this normal?

welcome to the family, yes it is normal... 6th gear speed suppose to be about 100km, anything slower will cause vibration

btw, those of u with h@b topboxes, do u feel that when u pump petrol, the pillion seat squeezes against the box rack? like the box rack blocking it like that. the rack from mtechnik

If you haven't done so, need to move the rack rewards by adjusting the screws inside.

it may or may not be normal. i advise you to read thru this whole thread to understand more. there seems to really be an issue with some bikes.
