i juz bought a shoei x-11. very nicely built, quality stuff. ventilation is superb.. i can actually feel air flowing inside the helmet especially the face where air flows along the inner side of the visor. very quiet, bike engine sound reduced significally but u can hear the wind blowing sound quite loud.

i oso went to test the arai rx7, but i eventually decided to buy the shoei. i will rate it 5*..

Bought a Daijiro Katoh X-11 TC-3 replica at Chong Aik for $720 after some flirting with Irene..... :D

Now new batch of PSB-approved X-11 cost about $760 to $800. FYI, my X-11 doesn't have the PSB-approved sticker.

Heard that the X-11 is the quietest and lightest amount the FF helmet. Even better than Arai. Read the comment somewhere in other foreign forums.

my dilema too.......shoei x11 vs arai rx7rr4...

the price of a shoei x11 psb approved can keep my upcoming hole from oversizing......arai...will blow big hole

from foreign reviews

noise............shoei quieter

cushion......arai better...dry cool

airflow......comparable...

chioness for plain colours.....arai vents more chio

weight.....arai 2 to 3 ounces lighter....can feel diff from ogk ff3...but shoei....minimum weight savings detected...but i got no problem with ff3 weight..so its just a plus but not totally neccessary

build quality.........both got minor problems.......shoei like leak water in rain, n straps cushion insufficient...arai rubber base will come out in 1 year becos of the glue

one question

can update for fogging..........for rainy situation...for shoei x-11 have fogging experience...(its talk about negative air pressure minimising fogging seems to have some complains about its tendency to fog much easier than arai rx7rr4....)

shell.........snc kelvar for arai............aim fibreglass for shoei.....reputable brands for protecting ur head....if weight is not a concern....can consider as par...

any other factors (pros n cons) for those wearing.......can feedback?

I have an Arai Rapide OR.

One of the top vent (buttoned) type on the right side is screwed up. Must have broke somewhere. It now flaps around lifelessly, imitating a dysfunctional penile erection.... :giddy:

But overall, still a good helmet. Light, airy and snug. A bit on the noisy side tho... but it's a racing helmet after all...

I don't know how much the RR4 is selling for but it seems from what I read here that the X11 is supposed to be cheaper? I personally have the Arai Goth Tracker so reckon my next helmet will be a Shoei to try.

My current Arai is do damn noisy anything above 110km/h. And yes, the rubber base came out and I lost the entire strip on track. Got it replaced for about $80 which is quite ex in my opinion.

I'm surprised on the fogging on the X11. I thought it's supposed to have some negative air design thing which is supposed to extract air from below the helmet at speeds? Probably some marketing hype then :(

I'm planning on getting the X11 and have been looking around. Looi sells them for $650 (Including GST) for the plain color version and $850 for the racing design ones. Compared to the official agent at Desker road (can't remember the name), they're asking for $800 less 15% for the plain colored ones which is $680. Tell me some c*** that their stock is more fresh??!! And that Looi's price of $650 only applies if you buy the bike from them which is totally untrue as $650 is the sticker price on the helmet.

So if any of you are looking for the X11, Looi's the cheaper place to get. But sadly, the plain colored ones are not very nice :( I'm eyeing the Daijiro yellow design but it's selling at too much a premium. In Japan, they're already dumping the Daijiro design at the plain colored price (about S$650) since his death last year because I think it's considered bad luck. I'll probably get mine from Japan next month when I'm there.

This is available only in the US is it? Didn't see it in the Japan catalog. The latest Shoei X11 was the Vermulen (sp?) which comes in TC-3 (yellow) version. Also the Daijiro memorial version. But didn't recall seeing the one you mentioned..

Guys ... just want to pick some views:

Arai Astro J - newer helmet, can add a top vent pSB approved, for about $560. But spares like cheek pads and visors are about $55 each.

Shoei X-8 - older helmet, but I think might be quieter (this one I'm really not sure), and dunno parts whether more or less expensive than Arai. Can get non-PSB one for $420. I don't really fancy the X-11 shape leh.

What do you guys think?

Last point; do you think the PSB is a really big issue? I mena, do TPs really check? If I have clear visors?

Cheers

... what you looking at? Never seen a cow that wants to go places ????! ...
