This is available only in the US is it? Didn't see it in the Japan catalog. The latest Shoei X11 was the Vermulen (sp?) which comes in TC-3 (yellow) version. Also the Daijiro memorial version. But didn't recall seeing the one you mentioned..

If I'm not wrong this model only available in US or europe not in Asia..

I've own a Shoei X11 & Arai Rx7rr4.. if I wld to compare both of this.. I wld prefer the Arai.. Both helmets are noisy when come to high speed the only way to reduce the noise is to have a ear plug on.. Arai are better in cutting wind (areo dynamic) as to compare to Shoei during high speed.. this is wat me n my pillion both feel.. eespecially there is a cross wind u can tell the diff.. Shoei are more comfy & durable... Overall both are good helmets.. :thumb:

I recently bought the Kevin Schwantz Astro TR from Chiap Lee. (Comes in the Mick Doohan paint scheme too) Its my first sports bike helmet but it is noticeably quieter than my Tour X. Well... maybe coz its meant for higher speeds? :D

i own a shoei x-11, when comes to rain, it will leak a little inside to the side covers. But i have nv encounter fogging b4, i think shoei is a more durable brand as compare to arai, the rubber, button push vents, they tends to spoil easily.

arai sucks! freaking lips keep coming out. if fly off it, its expensive $$$ to replace and will fly off again. buttons fiddly and easy to get stuck/spoil. inner parts removable cushions are flimsy and once u take in and out too many times it becomes loose and it'll never fit properly again. mine's a goth tracker.

im going for shoei next! definitely better build quality and more durable.

Are Arai helmets really that bad? I mean, it's supposed to be really good quality.

I am on the verge of getting one, the Astro J. Anyone got things to say about this helmet? Really would appreciate feedback.

Cheers

No la ... i very practical one ... no brand loyalty. This being my first Arai or Shoei; just take the better helmet, no point take something that will go to pieces. Anyone got same experience with Shoei???

I've both Arai (Goth Tracker) and Shoei (X11). Had the Arai for about 1.5 years and yes, the lower lip has fallen off once. Cost me $65 to replace which I felt it was ridiculous. I use my helmet like once in 1-2 weeks so never needed to take out the lining to wash. I also wear a helmet liner so that helps to keep the inner liner cleaner.

I can't comment much on the Shoei though as I've only used it 3-4 times. But I must say it's quieter than the Arai at 90km/h cruising speed.

Try to ask for a shoei X-9...guess Irene is selling ard $450-$500...Remember it is a silver one I support you guys to use Shoei.

It is tested & my X-11 crack...............no injuries to my head.

I can hear the winding sound in the X-11 (only bad point)

When it rains, I close all the air vented & no rain comes in....Logical thing to do.

Slightly cheaper than Arai.

Parts not very sure.

I am getting a second x-11 slowly....

My friend on a RR4 is getting a shoei...so you made a choice.

Arai ff has more graphics & this is also one reason why people chose this brand.

Hope this helps

My old Arai Signet which I imported fm US in 1996 is still in good con. Used it 2 yrs till '98, stopped riding then took it up agian in 2002. Had the entire pads inside done up by Chong Aik in 2002 n it serves me nicely till today. Yes, d mouth lining is loose but a bit of glue took care of it. Other than scratches, it's ok. Any tips where to repaint my helmet, n will they stick back d ARAI words?

The visor has some scratches n tend to fog esp in rain. What I did esp b4 going up north is clean it, use rain-X on the outside n use Anti-Mist spray ( from optician $2-00) on inside n it's as good as almost new! The anti-mist can last months! I know the shops sell helmets with anti-fog at higher price, so no need buy those...diy @ $2.

I appreciate my Arai ( n prob those gud quality helmets) cos the visor is real solid. I tried a Nolan 100E the visor quite thin. Sorry I dun have Shoei experience.

Tks. Jus my 2cts worth.:thumb:

Hi,

I own a Shoei, been using it for 2 years plus now, everyday.

Also own a few other GPR/MHR/...etc cheapo helmets.

With Shoei, u can see the difference the price made.

No problems, very comfy and the feel is just right.

The only gripe I have is the fogging, even with the free breath guard. But it's not so bad as to discredit the helmet.

After all, it happens on rainy days, jus leave a small gap at the visor.

U know the back of the helmet, the base area where the rubber liner joins? I heard ppl say on this forum that Arai's will come off. No problem with my Shoei so far.

Very satisfied. One thing to take note, the replacement linings are very exp!!!
