My thoughts on LAB, Regina or Helmet boys.

I first bought my learner helmet from helmet boys. Not a friendly chap I would say altitude is better when I said I want to buy the learner package. After I pass my tp, was looking to buy FF helmet plus another helmet for my wife sms to helmet boys were slow in reply, then if asked more question, no reply from helmet boys.

I din know Regina and LAB are like same same, but when I step into regina with my wife to buy a helmet, service is good.

Bought a bike cover from there and without bargaining, was given some discount off automatically.

Went back on last sunday decided on getting a FF helmet, all the staff are helpful to give me advise on how to wear the FF on

my big stupid head. Finally gotten a Shoei GT from them.

Ah boy (back shop) service not too bad what. the Auntie was nice and explained clearly when I first went to buy my learner helmet (Ozi 97). Got discount too (though prolly everyone does ;))

Bought a second helmet Caberg Duke from Regina (front shop) good price, got PSB sticker, feels as solid as the reviews. (not sure why those shops near ubi sell for triple the price)

Overall both experience has been good with Ah Boy/Regina.

Wow, glad I checked out this thread. I just went to LAB today to look for helmet. The skinny Chinese guy (Malaysian?) quoted me $80 for a normal EVO helmet. And $230 for plain OGV Avand 2 helmet. For the exact same model but with mixed colours, he quoted $280. After bargaining price became $210 & $260. I scared kena chopped so didn't buy in the end.. normal EVO helmet for $80? Really??!

Recently bought my helmet from Regina. I thought that their service was pretty okay - not too good, not too bad. They counter people initially ignored me, and I had a little difficulty getting their attention. But after the guy found out that I had genuine intentions of buying, I could sense a difference in attitude. I was allowed to try on different helmets and sizes to find one that fits. So I guess this place is for people who are ready to buy, but not so great for people who are shopping around.

Bought a Acerbis helmet from Regina on Thursday. (Yes the model on sale or promotion in April/May). As expected my helmet size XXL no stock. The guy disappeared to the back. After 10 min he returned with a brand new helmet, with the right size. I tried it, size is ok and comfortable. After I said I want to buy, I was told to pay at the counter. The guy put the helmet into a helmet bag and passed tat to me after I made payment.

The next morning when I put on the helmet, I immediately felt tight and discomfort. When I brought the helmet back, the sale assistant wasnt helpful to explain to me. I wasnt sure what has happened. I suspect that what I tried and what I actually took home wasnt the same helmet. In the end I spent another $35 to cut a layer of sponge inside the helmet at Eugene Saddlery nearby.

I would never ever buy from Regina anymore. They arent too helpful and friendly, and the after-sale service just - totally acceptable.

I have to say that while I can see a bad experience happening there, I just had a really GREAT experience. I bought a helmet and boots and just for the asking, they took $150 off the price of the boots, which was $25 less than Racing World's 50% off sale price. I was really really impressed. Very helpful.

I had a rather pleasant experience with LAB recently. I went there and asked for a new battery for my bike. They were a little unsure initially of which battery model specifically, and sold me one that they thought might fit. I didn't bring my bike there, so couldn't verify it on the spot. When I went home, realised that the new battery couldn't fit. So I went back to LAB for an exchange.

Honestly, after reading all the "bad" reviews, I was half worried that they wouldn't honor the exchange. But I was pleasantly surprised that they did it for me happily. I just paid the difference between the previous battery and the correct model.

I'm sure we all experience good AND bad services everywhere - depending on the situation and context. But generally, I'm beginning to like LAB. =)

Well. 13 years ago. When I got my helmet after getting my first bike.

Same **** on the helmet. Just that mine was worst. No XL, so the expand the helmet for me.

Me being a noob then was happily using them until fellow forumers ask me to junk it.

Battery from them is 3-1. 3 good 1 bad.

3 good. yuasa battery. Made bye Yuasa China. But pretty decent quality.

Last bad is because yuasa don't have model for a paqrticular bike so I take their recommendation.

That lousy batt last just 6 months

kappa box. They made good recomendation. Cheaper.

So summary.

Like what other fellow bikers have mentioned. It's like Sim lim Square.

U know what u want is ok. else sure kanna snooped.

In case U wonder if Lim AH Boy avoid taxes.

The answer is no. He personally go down to IRAS to submit.

Last wenesday. I went to Kelantan Lane to get my helmet shield replace at one of the helmet shop . went to the parking space infront of LAB. ALL occupied. There were 3 bicycles placed at 3 motorbikes lot. I was very sure to whom they belonged to. but if i tell them they will surely say not theirs.

after waiting for quite a while, so, i went to change my helmet front-shield. when i came back, one of LAB staff move his bicycle to deliver his product.

LAB, please tell your staff, DO NOT park your bicycles at the lot allocated for motorcycles

Thanks

I have a problem. Am too used to overpriced products sold by AD. Went to regina to check out some helmets n some of them are cheaper by quite a bit compared to AD prices n I start to worry about authenticity and possibility of QC issues... such peace of mind issues can never justify me from taking the more logical cheaper options. looks like I'm the type who will offer myself to be carrot by the AD.

I always feel that shops that accept only cash, and not nets and credit cards which would leave an e trail are v dubious.

Guys, whether or not you want to believe is up to you. I got nothing to gain. The next time you buy helmet, just compare the size of the shell. Girl and guy how to wear same shell??. And please, double and triple check they give you the correct sponge size.

This is a common practice.....even the top brands do it.

For example my schuberth helmet has the same shell size for large, XL and XXl. Just the interior padding is different.

Schuberth also have one shell size for medium and small and just use different pads for each size.

So if the helmet you bought fits your head is not to tight or to loose then it doesn't really matter what size is stamped on it, so long as it fits right.

It is irresponsible to sell motorcycle without advising use of jacket back protection wearing.  It looks like Lim Ah Boy is promoting bikes without even a any offer of back protection on their website.
