Brembo asked "Are you guys interested to do a long trip with your scooters?"

Hi guys...

Long time...long time...

most of you present active forumers might not know me and how I was (yes, i used the word "was" cus i have been neglecting this section for awhile haha) associated with this scooter section.

So now here I am again, with my co-mod Alvin helping me, I will try to correct this "was" to an "is" and probably with capital letters too haha...by reliving how this scooter section was in the past....

-------------------------------------

Now, If being ask this question:"would you like to go back to the nostalgic past on riding?"

alot of them would raise one of their eyebrows in skeptism...and some of them would shrug their shoulders in wonder.

For me, not all the past is pleasant to me...but in riding...it was full of good taste nostalgia.

especially when i started to learn about touring on Bikes (or rather on Scooters) back in 2007.

Back in 2007, a bunch of us started a topic on touring with our scooters...to cross the borders...

not the Tuas or Woodlands customs, but the Sadao custom, at the end of North South Highway, into Thailand.

Gathered up was eventually the few of us...all scooters, the biggest was 2 400cc Burgmans, the rest are 250s, a Piaggio X9, an old Helix and me, riding the Big Ruckus (Check out my bike Blog at my signatures), and to add to the adventures...most of our wives are riding with us.

To make the whole story short...that is my maiden thai trip, the slowest (it took us about 15hours) and the most tiring (remembered my good old buddy Mark was clean shaven the night we started the trip, but at the morning he became a shagged old man, with beard studs all over his face! lol)

BUT nevertheless, years after that, while we upgraded our touring machines, together with our touring skills and directions sense, this 1st trip has always been in the centre of our topics, laughing at how we, the fun-bunch, who are like small birdies with our small wings (means our small scooters), left our mother nest, for the 1st time...to explore the world...

and these touring eventually curved some good friendships out, which makes a very beautiful frame out of the whole picture too.

While writing now, the memories of this trips which instill my mind deeply...create a smirk while my eyeballs rolled up...haha

---------------------------------------------------------------

BUT...Enuff of story telling...my point is to try to remake this epic journey for some of you who has got his or her wings and is very keen to fly off the nest, but havent got some right person to go to for advice or even the right group to go with...

but 1st of all, we would probably try to do some local meet ups and get to know you guys better, and we would probably start some small trips 1st to let you guys n gals get familiar with the malaysian roads and how the correct way to ride in a group thru out the long ride....

This thread is open to comments / remarks and introductions. Please Feel free to speak on the thread.

If u deem more appropriate, you could also pm me or Alvin80 on issues with meeting up and touring.

Stay tune to the section for meetup events.

whoa i'm so interested in this. but maybe you can share with us the minimum preparation our scooter must have for this kinda long trips. i've never brought mine out of singapore at all, actually. but i'd definitely love to ride to Sadao with you guys.

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

Hi hi Bro,

Glad you are interested!...dun worry pior to actually planning the next big trip, we will of course get to meet up and have a few briefings, then

everyone will know what to prepare and what to look out for.

Stay tune to this scooter section and watch for local meetups that either Alvin or me will plan :)

Its for you to find out... :D .....and you will never regret trying this out...

but my experience is that any bikes will make it, its just the rider... :)

Touring with smaller bikes is definately possible, but due to smaller tanks, we will have shorter and more rest...

which is in a good way too, where all the riders will have ample rest before heading on the road again.
