anyone has any review for AGIP EO ?

am using it on my k7 at the moment...now is at its 2000km mark..eo is gd but nids the bike to really warm up to feel the slick, no prob with gear engagement at all, as for temperature its hard to say, the engine noise is a little lesser...smooth ride so far...but i feel that the type im using is abit too thick for s'pore road..as im using 15w50, im gonna try the 10w40 on the nxt servicing...so my review so far for Agip is :thumb: just as i would rate my all time fav maxima...

Hi Mate,

Amsoil 10W40 Engine Oil belongs to Group IV PAO base synthetic oil.

And yes it is full synthetic.

I will be suitable for your motorcycle.

You can check with HL Cycle or Hiap Aik for oil change.

The market for engine oil is indeed very vibrant and exciting compared to a decade ago. Then, I can remember 10 years ago, having just bought my first 2A bike, the choices of engine oil was only 3 – 4.

Today, there are so many brands on the market. Established brands and new brands with colourful marketing jostling for attention. The number of brands available now seems to be growing faster than the market for motorcycle engine oil itself!

Like spa and beauty products, we now have free gifts with engine oil purchase, foreign sales people instead of the usual familiar faces going around, etc. These are indeed signs of a developing market.

Indeed, with so much information (or claims of this benefit and that benefit) going around, it is getting more and more difficult to decide which is best, or at least among the best.

So let’s go back to basics. When you read a claim, what do you do? You look for evidence, or credibility to back it up. If there isn’t any? You find out. Maybe the advertiser just forgot to include the credentials. Or maybe there isn’t any in the first place.

First, I start at the various brands websites. Engine oil is liquid engineering. I see if they have R&D teams, manufacturing plants with quality control of their own. Or is their website just full of marketing but very little technical info? Is their oil engineered by themselves or supplied by another source and just repackaged?

Recently at the EICMA ’09 show, I visited various oil manufacturers and resellers booths. Surprisingly, most have never heard of some brands which are being actively promoted here in Singapore. And some brands touted as premium oil here, are actually more established as other businesses. I.e. they are known for other things, but not their engine oil.

Once they are placed on the international playing field, the true standing of the brands becomes more visible. But of course, this is just me, a single person researching. The truth could be out there, and we would carry on looking.

Thankfully, Motorex recognizes the need for independent testing as assurance of its quality measures and attained ISO 9001 certificate in 1993 for its overall performance in the fields of development, research, production, sales, after-sales service, final inspection, marketing and communication. Preparations for certification according to ISO 14001 are currently in progress.

The same goes for our other brands like K&N (independent lab testing in accordance with ISO 5011 procedure), and EBC (Double HH rating by US AMECA and Europe's first and only ECE R90 approved pad).

Like the Chinese saying, Lao Wang Mai Gua Zi Mai Zi Kua. Meaning the old man Wang who sells melons, definitely will claim his melons to be sweet. Thus, independent testing is the way to go to assure benefits claimed, are true.
