Forming of SBA--Calling for group representatives

Thank you for dropping by. You could be surfing or you could have an interest in riding safety. Irregardless, we are appealing to you to be part of a founding group of members in a soon-to-be "Singapore Bikes Association" (SBA), if you have a passion for riding safety and would like to spread the safety message to bikers.

 

Following a meeting with TP Safety Branch at Ubi HQ 26-01-07morning, we are tentatively setting a date somewhere after Chinese New Year for this core group to meet up. There is currently no umbrella organisation co-ordinating all the biker groups in Singapore.

 

SBA seeks to unite these biker groups and individuals who share a common passion for riding and an interest in riding safety. It will be a bikers' group for bikers, working together with TP in promoting riding safety in Singapore, not for TP.

 

The permanent agenda for SBA will be to promote riding safety. We intend to promote safety through :

1. Meeting up schools, polys, army camps, new riders who just passed etc to spread the safety message.

2. Gathering feedback from bikers. (Think of what CASE does for consumers and AWARE does for women)

3. Other avenues to be decided in future meetings.

 

If you are an individual or represent a group of riders, touring group, riding club etc, and have been always wanting to advocate safer riding, this is the platform you seek that we are building.

sorry, but you may find that i am disturbing your proper thread

have been hearing, or rather, reading about this SBA project

but then again, since it is going to be a formal and massive thing ( i presume), i believe that there should be minimum hic-ups here and there

just one minor thing i have seen

the word highlighted

 

u either use the word "regarding"

or u use the word "regardless"

"irregardless" is "not-regardless" which means .. . . . .

u get what i mean

 

ensuring small things are correct before we proceed on, i believe will path for the long future

anyway

I had read many interesting topic in this section, example, motorcycle lane, license, promote biking etc.

 

This is the time to make the authority hear you, this is the channel to voice out your opinion.

good point there, beside SBA already stand for Singapore Broadcast Authority, Singapore Badminton Association, Singapore Bus Association, Swiss Business Association, Small Business Assoication...

 

Its motorcycle and/or motorcyclist, not motorbike, bike, bike rider, biker or slacker...

but this group is abt riding safety isnt it. not so much abt bikeshops.

yes, agreed. i think the bike shop issue falls more under CASE than SBA.

The name of the organisation is something we can discuss and find consensus amongst all riders. The point made about SBA being too vague/ambiguous is very valid. Riding safety is the agenda, not bike prices etc. We are encouraged by the good responses from rider groups and individual riders so far. All members who are interested please include your vehicle number as arragements will be made to park inside TP HQ on 10 March. Thank you.

on thinking thru it again... perhaps if enough people in SBA are interested, they can help to represent bikers to CASE on the issue of bike shops. but... the initial orientation of SBA was safety and education, so.
