Impossible to get the coil burnt within a mth of change.Tell ur shop abt that coz normally a new coil, rectifier and battery will last longer than that. CDI is juz the brain. Coil is heart, rectifier ur kidney and battery is ur stomach. these 3 are very important.Did the mech use the right coil or did u see him change it personally?

My orgasm starts at 299km/h.....

Ya I doubt the coil will spoilt so fast. Did the mech show you the physical spoilt coil?

Just some other possible cause, maybe your wire hardness connectiing from the coil to rectifier also spoilt le. You could have it check as well. Spoilt wire will have very high resistance.

The CDI could have caused the coil to spoil. There also could be a short somewhere. Or just a faulty coil replacement to start with.

thanks for the response. the mech did show me my first burned coil. as for the current burned one, i haven get to see it yet cos its still in the shop. i highly doubt the mech shortchange me. trustworthy mech at mayo. i jus curious on how the coil will get burned. if im not wrong the wire to the rectifier comes together with the coil. i rmb seeing a bunch of about 50cm wire link to the coil. is there any other wire harness worth checking? once again thanks for your replies. :)

I'm just guessing on the wire part. I doubt the cable you mentioned directly connect to the rect. It will connect to another set of sub harness before reaching the rect. If in doubt, seek 2nd opinion from any reputatble bike shop.

as expected, the coil was black in colour. mech told me it could be a bad coil to start with. he did mention to me that spec 2 has some problem with the electric circuit itself. replacing the spoiled original coil with another original spec 2 one may not solve the problem. checked all wiring but no short anywhere. right now my idling is at 14.5 volt max with headlight on. doesnt go beyond 14.6 volt. charging is 13.4 volt. bike feels damn power. less vibration as well. hopefully this will last. have to monitor. but i feels damn good to ride the bike with a new heart.

This statement is quite contraditing. You managed to squeeze 9 yrs out of the original one right? So in the end how did the mech solved the problem?

he was saying those that comes with the bike are of better quality. those replacement parts are not so good. he was saying spec 1,2 and 3 are all running the same coil. even version s and pb1 might be using the same coil. so onli revo is running a different coil size as its efi. no one knows how long the coil is been sitting on the shelf before someone actually bought it. highly likely im the sway one that bought a not so good one. haha. he told me he is using another coil from the cb family. but not spec 2. my guess is either the bigger cc ie cb750 or the revo. haha
