Query on friendly nice bike seat shop

Hi fellow riders. I intend to do a small customization and wish to get some leathers. Thought of going to those shops tat do seat wrappings and "beg" or buy leftover pieces.

 

Anyone can suggest a friendly nice shop? Or any bike seat shop at all? Personally i ve not done my seat before.

 

Wat i need is leather roughly e half e size of a seat for 1 seater. If anyone has torn old seats or any form of leather tat they do not wan. Can give me or sell me too. ^^ leather jackets la, pants la, shorts la, anything as long as is leather.

Can go eugene ask. He give me a few cover tat time when I complain got cat scratch my seat. I jus threw a piece away last week, would hv give it to u if u had post earlier.

Anyway, can just approach Eugene, he is very friendly and u can discuss your idea with him.

Ok thanks for advice. Will go 219 first since planning to drop by moo world. Then maybe go eugene also if 219 negative results.

besides these 2 places, anyone know anywhere else do seat wraps or sell cheap seats ( 2B bike ) ( apart from LAB )...would like to explore more options besides these"usual" places...

Actually i was also thinking e same. So i search e location of eugene and is near motoworld. So think got eugene first.

Thanks for all the advice on where to get leather. In the end i got it from some place else along the way to Engeue's Saddles.

 

Sadly, i didn't enjoy my experience at Engeue's, not a big deal but this is wat happen.

 

Went into the shop and there's this guy on the left sitting down doing work. He saw me and stood up asking how can he help. So i told him my story. (At this pt i already got my leather so my intention was to learn more on how engeue does the fuel cover and price as i may decide to pay for it instead of DIY) So this guy look a bit blur and just stood there.

 

Another guy from inside (Engeue) came out and asked me instead. Seeing that he seems to be the guy to talk to, i repeated myself. While i was explaining my story, he give "a type of look" to the first guy which meant "wat u doing standing there doing nothing? carry on with ur work la" in a unfriendly way and the 1st guy sat down and continue working.

 

So i continued my story and ask engeue wat material he use to do the fuel cover and how he do it... He give me a blur look and after i repeat myself he comment tat doing so many of this stuff, i'm the first person to ask so many questions. So i explain tat i ve went to a few shops and before deciding i wan to gather more info. Instead of proceeding to answer my questions, instead he asked me how the other shops do it...

 

At this pt i was thinking either he dun wan my business or he dun wish to share, so giving the benefit of doubt, i told him wat the other shop just told me + some other BS tat i thought up on the spot. And he say "Ya lo, we also do like tat." Note that his reply is inclusive of the other "BS" stuff tat i made up. So i agar agar noe le...

 

Then he ask me again y i so curious, so i explain tat initially i wanted to DIY myself and before i can continue he a bit upset and said "So u asking so much so tat u can do urself la". I explain tat tat was the initial plan but now tat i am here i can consider paying for the job. So he sat down and pick up some work to do. When i open my mouth wish to ask somemore things, he said "if i wish to do, leave my tank bra and come back tml.", This time i interrupt him by saying "it's ok, thanks and sry for taking up ur precious time"

 

Basically to be fair, it could be a busy day for him, it could be that he was in a bad mood. So benefit of doubt here. I just wish that if it is a bad day for u, please kindly advise me tat it is not the right day/time to ask too much questions and i will get the hint.

 

End of story is, i got the leather from another shop (Let's call this nice shop "L" shop. And the guy who gave me happily discuss with me how they do it and also brainstorm with me how to DIY it better without expecting any business from me. To be fair maybe "L" shop guy was in a good mood.

 

The leather i ve bought it to a tailor shop to cut and sew up $5. (Maybe can be cheaper) Once I fasten it to my tank bra will post again to share. ^^

Completed my diy fuel cover. Total cost 11$. 5 for e sewing and cutting. 6 for e 3m velcro and dbl side tape. Leather piece was free. (not nice to reveal sources)

 

I still need to touch up abit as e velcro 3m not enough. $6 for a short strip only. ._. so going to buy 3m dbl side tape and i ve Velcro. Will cost another $5.

 

Went to check price if do at shop. Eugene's saddle and lightning bike (both shop near to each other). Both charge $30 and ve to leave tank bra there.

 

For my diy if anyone is interested, it is possible to be cheaper. Assuming leather piece is free.

 

U need to cut/sew e leather. (possible to do urself or get gf/wife help). Buy cheapo velcro from tailor shop or any shop tat does clothes amendment. $2 can get u a long strip. Get dbl tape of ur choice, i think i will stick to 3m.

 

Spend about half day to go find free leather. (can be 1 hr if u noe where and dun side track. I took half day becoz ran other errands) then half hr get tailor do. Finally half hr to tape to tank bra. Can finish in 3hr and cost between $7 to $15. ^^ and best is u can immediately use instead of next day. No need extra trip to collect also.

Thanks. I just reverse e leather on my tank bra and draw a circle. If u ever ve a chance to c it life, e circle is not a nice circle. But just do for fun only. ^^
