For the benefit of everyone:

(1) Disk cleanup >> http://tek.io/PwZNm2

(Place a "tick" mark on everything you want to clean, except for "Compress old files". This last option causes your computer to perform slow; or may cause some software such as email to malfunction)

(2) Temporary Internet Files deletion

- for Internet Explorer 7 and above >> http://bit.ly/QL7y4T

- for Firefox (Windows and Mac) >> http://bit.ly/TIEora

- for Safari (Mac) >> http://bit.ly/P9YkAE

(3) Uninstall apps that you don't use anymore

(4) Remove all your past 'system restore' points (maybe keep the very last restore point only, just in case) >> http://bit.ly/UOSQhq

(5) Move your work/personal files and your favourite stuff to a portable disk/thumbdrive

Why not just use CCleaner?

Can also. A program that can help you do all those automatically. Still have to consider your own personal files like your photos/video/cameraphone and others -- need to manually move them to a portable drive.

CCleaner by Piriform >> http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

In the meantime, I still put my manual-cleanup directions up there just in case there are some individuals that can't download it, possibly because they're in the office (banned internet) or on the road when they really need to do something about their laptop lacking space on the hard drive.
