If i were to connect a modem to another modem using cat5 cable in another room, do i need to set a new Ip for that new modem.?

Wireless are just not fast enough cause i want direct cable to the laptop/comp/etc instead of using wireless.

So long as you connect Homerouter A and Homerouter B via their LAN ports, you should be fine. stay clear of the port that's labeled "Internet" or "WAN".

Also, its worth a mention that your computers must be set to get an IP Address automatically, otherwise known as "Automatic address" or "DHCP" on both your computers. Also, one of your Homerouter has to be a DHCP server...as in, you have to turn on the DHCP feature there.

EDIT: Sorry I re-read that post. Wouldn't it be better if you just had 2 devices? Like the Internet Modem, & the wired cum wireless router?

Yes you can but why would you wanna do that, cos always can get a wireless router to replace first router

Modem > wireless router > PC

@RageMyDream. He dun wan use wiresless.

@TS. If u wan direct cable y not just direct cable to ur device? If u wan to connect more than 1 device at distance end use a switch?

Anyway modem to modem, if i understand u correct, u mean those modem tat has a coaxial connection for internet and 1 x ethernet for ur device. It wont work since u only ve 1 ethernet connection which is used up by ur modem to modem link.

If ur modem happens to ve 2 ethernet (mine dun ve) then logically it will work so u can do a test. But i dun recall my modem having a console for config so i wouldn't noe how to solve if dun work.

If modem to router depends again if ur router is hybrid type which comes with 2 or more ethernet. If yes then will work. And also able to configure if any problems encountered.

My apologies. I want two wireless routers on the same network because some devices cannot easily recognize a particular brand of router easily.

You will be able to use 2 wireless router under 1 SSID but your second wireless router need to be in client mode.

You can also have 2 SSIDs by 2 wireless router but your wifi channel need to change to prevent wireless interference issue.
