base on the manufacture design, looks like we are "abusing" the Engine Stop Switch :cheeky:

i was about to ask the same question as the purpose of the engine stop switch...i always saw riders off their engine using the stop switch then followed by turning the ignition to off to take out the keys when parking...some says when u parked with the stop switch to off can save battery...is tat true?

Not true. When you off the engine, all electrical component will ceased operating. If all ceased operating, nothing will be sucking the juice from the battery.

The KILL switch is in series with the ignition switch.

When the KILL switch is open, the bike will not start.

Most motorcycle training courses suggest that you get in the habit of using the KILL switch to shut off your bike.

The reasoning is that if you don't use it, it won't work when you need to use it.

Much confusion occurs in traffic when you inadvertently trip the KILL switch and then can't figure out why the bike won't restart. Always look at the KILL switch first.

You may need to use the KILL switch if your bike falls over and you can't reach the ignition.

Just trip the KILL switch.

This is my 2009 Honda Shadow Aero 750, black with snakeskin flames on tank and fender. I've been riding on and off for 3 years.

I'm a busy mom to a 16 month old baby but I love to ride with my husband on the weekends whenever we're lucky in getting a babysitter. =D

I've put on some Cobra pipes, Cobra highway bars, 17" slip streamer windshield, and Cobra light bar.

Planning to dress up the front with some radiator and horn covers and some ISO grips! I'm excited! -- Khris

Engine stop switch is just a convenient way to stop your bike, in case of emergency etc. Actually it's the same as just turning off the ignition key.

Some uncles on the road like to use the engine stop switch to off their engine while waiting for the red light to turn green, they feel that it can help save battery. Well, whether it's true or not, we don't know.

Just a note, if you regularly use the engine stop switch, the moving parts might wear out eventually, then fail to close the circuit due to contacts not touching. So, even with switch in the "run" position, engine may not start.

Experienced for myself during my 2A days in ssdc. Had to push back to training shed. Instructor troubleshoot n discovered it was due to faulty kill switch not working. Advised me to try and not use kill switch. Just my 2 cents.

Kill switch is installed in series with the ignition . in my honest opinion, it doesnt matter if u just kill ur engine with either 'kill switch' or 'ignition switch' or both . wear and tear is normal . if the contact is loose, just change to new switch or contact.
