Glad that you asked.

I was looking this direction too.

Basically you have to ask yourself.

What extent do i want to be covered?

For myself its

Hospitalisation (Have to be warded, Dont need to come out a cent, you will not get a cent out nor excess)

Death, amputation(loss of limbs)

Outpatient eg abrasions, day surgery etc.

Hospital plan : best is AIA. Ive looked and compared fine prints. $170 from CPF 200 from cash. Covers overseas and pegged to a local private hospital. Downside is that if you choose to go to a B ward, it wont give you cash back like other plans. but what is $200 a day? Unless you are in a coma or something lah.

Death, amputation, SAF group term life policy. about 14$ a month(covers death and amputation) and you can add on a accident policy to double that about $4 a month. read the fine prints of what they consider a loss of limb to get 100% of sum insured. Some company is 1 leg. Some damn stupid need to lose 1 leg and 1 hand or and eye. what is this? toto ah?

Outpatient, i got from CHARTIS because they also have death and amputation and $100 a week from your MC.

Aviva, ntuc and great eastern have to pay more or cover less for motorcycle rider.

Personally for me, the best insurance to get in your scenario is travel insurance. Your vehicle insurance should cover you for any injury cost, hospitalization fees etc. But i think for touring, it's better to get travel insurance for protection. When i went to m'sia, i got mine from dbs. Affordable and gave me a peace of mind. Especially since you don't know how much 'more' the m'sia hospitals will charge.

sorry to dig up an old thread. I'm thinking of getting some insurance to be covered, mainly in Singapore in case of accidents. I'm a student in NTU and we have some insurance policy also but I'm not sure if that covers motorbike accidents. Anyways I'm looking to be covered for everything including outpatient, hospitalisation, death and disability. Any recommendations, and cost?

Guys,

Most of the Personal Accident policies in Singapre excludes motorcycling unless stated. Thus when you get a Personal Accident policy, please make sure the policy does cover motorcycling. Some cover for free while some insurers need you to pay a small premium.

I got mine from my MSIG agent as motorcycling is automatically covered.
