Hee Motor

19 Hamilton Rd

All my 3 petrol tanks were treated by the grumpy old man

:-)

Technically speaking, the rust comes back quicker than a wink of an eye, so the hard part is not getting rid of the rust but in preventing the rust from coming back.

What bike do you ride? Mine's a Rebel 450

i ride an Impulse 400.

Hee motors....never heard it. do you know how he does the derusting?

i think to prevent it from coming back you either have to make sure the metal is not exposed to air, so making sure your fuel tank is covered with petrol at all times, OR can buy tank sealant.

ok, but i still want to know how he does it exactly. chemical? sandpaper?

cause i am worried if the rust removal will expose holes in my gas tank....i actually have derusting solution at my place, just no time and place to properly empty the fuel tank and use the derusting solution. need to leave it for 6 hours to attack the rust.

No the rust comes back when I tried to de-rust the tank myself

To prevent the rust from coming back, you need the sealant on hand. To be applied almost immediately!

I couldn't dry the tank fast enough to prevent the rust from coming back that's why I went to this shop!

i am riding a kr... cos rust like hell liao.. wanna derust it. but no time etc. cos need to ride bike almost everyday, so cant really take out the fuel tank.. =( unless i buy another fuel tank.. what de rust solution to recommend?

Posted

Fuel tanks tend to rust very fast once left empty so I wouldn't bother to de-rust it myself if I were you

My best advice is to use the shop above and get him to coat it with tank sealant (a coating that can withstand petrol which is a solvent)

You should let the old man decide whether your petrol tank needs his services or not

A much much cheaper solution would be to buy a petrol tank from the scrapyard if one can be found in very good condition
