hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you guys paint the tank yourself? What paint did you use and which primer/undercoat. I want to do a white strip around my carbon tank.

Also has anyone here done engine modifications like porting (grinding out material) or engine tuning? Whats the max HP possible 4 SP..

thx.

ha ha thx for the replies.

Man 60hp!

Actually i should have made my original post more clear when i said porting.

Porting refers to the modification of the transfers and the inlets to increase air/fuel flow and the widening of the transfer ports for various tuning.

Flowing is also similar where the inner surface of the liquid fuel channels, such as transfers are smoothed to a 800-1000 grit. Exhaust ports are smoothed to a mirror finish, so 2000 wet.

If there is a SP racing class in SG then there would exist this kinda stuff it is very specialised and difficult to do which makes it more worth the while for racers.

Anyone know who has done this kindof thing to their machine?

If you're really from where you location states..Then wow I'm really surprised..:cheeky:

I dunno much but it seems you're gettin all this info to make the bike faster..I assume you ride as a hobby rather than transport like anyone in SG..So you won't really mind about havin a bad FC for your bike..Good luck for your quest..:cheeky:

Well I actually ride to commute. Which is 30km one-way to uni each day.

The reason I want to find out is so that I can perhaps increase power without loss of FC.

I think I can do this by increasing the mid-range torque, hence ride in lower revs...say 4k - 5k and have the same pull as at 6k -7k in stock setup.

I figure the start stop traffic will mean its more rideable due to more pull.

I'm still tryin to find more info on the racing stuff coz thats where people can afford to spend money on this kinda tuning and I can work out where to start and make blueprints for the porting.

Also I was wondering how you guys get your bikes painted, especially tank. DO you buy new tank or is it sanded down to the primer and repaint?

Also do you buy new fairings? Or paint over the SP paintwork :S ??

thx in advance!

I dunno much..But my guess is at 4-5k you will still experience some "boggin/stutterin"..Portin will prolly draw in more petrol..Unless you are able to calculate the proper/correct ratio to make the fuel burn more effectively (complete combustion)..Maybe if you are able to do that then you would still be able to get rather good mileage..But its merely just a thought..You sound like an engineerin student..So maybe you could prolly find a way to make it work?:goodluck:

Yeah, you guessed right Eng student indeed.

My friend is actually modifying his PX200E in the same manner so he is quite experienced.. he is expecting a increase from 12HP to about 30HP. But ofcourse he will suffer a lot of FC, which dusnt matter for him as its purely for fun.

In my case you maybe right about the FC to go up per rev, but it will be running at close to 50%-60% the revs so it maybe possible to get more low down power without FC loss.

Your friend must be really good..Tho I still think there will be FC loss due to the fact that 2strokers aren't the best at burnin fuel up completely/efficiently as a 4 stroker would..My guess is by portin..More fuel will go in and seein how 2 strokers aren't able to effectively burn the fuel..More wasted fuel will be "produced" out hence explainin why there might still be FC loss..Do post of the results when you're done with it..:cheeky:

If I cant find enough information i cant do it. But maybe later down the track.

Can you tell me about spraying my tank also? What is involved on the technical side? undercoats, primers, paints? type etc.?

I'm going for a white stripe around my carbon tank pad.

Air brush? Or just aerosol spray cans? :cheeky:

I can't be of much help coz I still can't visualize what you want for the tank..But an alternative I can give you is to just paste a white sticker around it..:cheeky:
