You're going to damage your engine if you rev to 9k rpm in neutral. Just find an empty road then rev to 9k rpm at 3rd gear should be fine. Watch out for TPs though.

hey frend juz wondering

why would reving to 9 k while in neutral damage engine

UNHAPPY with shell?

My cold Idle 800+ normal idle abit less 1000 rpm.. good/bad?

good: save a little little little bit of petrol

bad: engine stalls frequently

manual says 1.3k rpm plus minus 100 rpm

UNHAPPY with shell?

Gathered this theory through various sources, further more, the manual also suggests not to 'race' the engine in neutral. I suppose when you're not engaged in gear, you're just pushing the piston for nothing, nothing to spin. So basically, I have no idea why it isn't healthy lol. :faint:

Posted

im guessing but it makes a little sense. revving in neutral does not allow the pressure to be delivered to moving the bike so this over pressure will place stress on the engine block's integrity. just a wild guess hey does anyone know the question to my previous post? how much is the original footrest kit along with service charge? lol

Regarding the RC valve, I rem seeing somewhere SP indeed does have 2, but is it the same as the 'valve' which opens during 6.8k-7k rpm that I dunno.

The idling rpm whether 1.0k-1.5k rpm does not make much of a diff in terms of petrol consumption, think abt it, during the entire ride, how many % of the time u will be in netural? Onli while stopping mah, so does it matter alot as compare to save abit of petrol and always afraid of engine dying off at traffic light? Judge yrself.

:btw: CivicR, my bike dies off twice just now while riding to J8, once stopped in the middle of yellow box at cross junction...lol, at first thou i got same problem as yrs' but than 2nd time dies off i slowly push to a side and think abt it, than realized petrol switch in OFF position! I was surpised I could ride about 3-5km with petrol switch off! LOL!

i tried to start my bike once in the morning. kickstarted till my leg cramped and i was really worried something happened to the engine. it started and idled for like 5 seconds before dying again. omg i tried everything from push to opening full throttle while kicking and of all the stupid ideas, i didn't realise the fuel switch was pointed to off. :giddy:

the meter...got pple do before at ah gua lane in JB

but i suppose u need to leave the bike or the meter there for more than a day lor

usually they print out the sticker and overlap onto the original meter readings

if u know how to DIY (i.e take out meter, etc) lagi better still

i went JB to print the stickers for my KRR meter

took me quite awhile to get the stickers onto my meter...cause need to remove the needles in the meter etc...and the reading of the speedo, RPM meter etc will misalign...so need to adjust back :cheeky:

For those who's interested in visinting China/backpacking/chinese history.

About the Valve: I HEARD la, 2 valve 3.5k RPM then 7k RPM, RR got 1 valve 3.5k RPM, but its all hear-say

About the idle: Mine doesn't stall @ 800~1000 RPM so I guess its good lo.. save petrol haha

About the Fuel tank: One of my friend have a habit of turning off the tank, engine and headlight off when parked and switch those on when moving off. (Headlight after warming up)

About Warming Up: I notice always parked for 3+ hours, start liao got 2T smoke so I always start bike then have a cigarette before moving off, my friend told me you can actually hear the difference between cold engine and warmed up engine... I don't know leh...
