Hi experts,

I am new to riding and I have bought a 2nd hand daelim roadwin 150 or also known as roadwin x5.

I have some difficulties kicking to N gear and sometimes I switch off the engine in gear 1. Is that a normal practice?

The engine idles between 1000-1500 rpm. Is that normal.

Is it advisable to buy those small round blindspot mirrors for the side mirrors?

Am I supposed to switch on highbeam once I am on the road? I have always turned on "big light" but not highbeam when I am on the road.

Thanks for any replies. :)

you can change your engine oil to see if it helps. if not try adjusting the free play on your clutch too, further away from you when you are mounted on top of the bike. if it doesn't work, its time to change clutch plates & clutch cable.

yes the engine idling is perfectly normal.

yes you are suppose to be on high beam at all times while travelling on the road, however this will "blind" other drivers while you are approaching from the back but they will definately notice that you are coming, up to your discretion. that is a rule set down by our traffic police to have high beam on all the times..

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Hi kifakw

Thanks for the reply. The N gear and the clutch you said seems complex. I will feedback when I go for scheduled maintenance. I am successul kicking to N gear on 1st try 30 percent of the time.

As for the highbeam, its very bright. On the right handlebar there are 3 switches - Low light, big light and off. On the left bar, there is another button for highbeam.

As the big light is vey bright, I did not on the highbeam. Looks like I will have to.

You can try tapping down gently from gear 2 to get neutral. Think it takes awhile to get used to yr bike so dont be in a hurry to assume the worst.

No need to high beam. On light as in driving school can already.

It's illegal to high beam all the time.

It is also illegal to off the light totally. $30 fine I think.

Cannot go to neutral got several reasons

1. Free play of clutch cable.

2. Engine oil

3. Clutch wear off liao.

Blind spot mirror optional.

Engine for most bikes is at idling is 1000- 1500RPM

Motorcyclist are the nicest people on the road, try not to kill us.

no, it's not a normal practice, it's a bad habit.

u need to replace neutral switch (

normal is 1500 (+-100)rpm when hot as per manual.

when cold it will idle at 1000rpm, when hot it should idle at 1500rpm.

day time high beam is not a problem but night time use normal beam (big light), not to blind other road users.

pose ur questions at naked bike section, roadwin thread.
