Raincoat - Where to buy?

Hahaha agree lah bro.it's raincoat. But does it perform like one when you encountered heavy rain, even when you wore it properly.

My current one working fine, as long wear it properly. No rain can enter or seep thorough.

Only issue too thick and heavy lol.Dislike wearing it.

The Givi went through the mother of all rain this evening on the way home.

Still dry throughout when I got home. I wore over my mesh armour jacket and the fitting is good with adjustable waist velcro and hip rubber strings. Pants at with velcro at the bottom.

What I feel that the Givi lost out to my Trax rain pants is that the Givi pants doesn't have the inner mesh liner.

Thanks for sharing and appreciate it lots.

Personally, i dislike the inner mesh liner though.Doesnt feel comfortable especially when you wear shorts.

Now you may want to consider to monitor it's durability.

Had the same problem... my first rain coat was from Frogg Todds... after 6 month during a heavy rain the pants seams suddenly decide to let some water into my pants... don't need to describe what it looks like...

I found an interesting solution...

Its call WORLD OF SPORTS.

Around the year they always have 50% off... well they carry alot of super expensive gear for wet weather from Mountain Hardwear and Columbia...

There are a couple which are "Shells" which is suppose to block out all wind and allows your heat to diffuse through (like Gortex) check it out :)

Hm.. I usually just use LAB's raincoats, around $30-$35 each, depending on the type they have at that point of time.

My raincoats will usually have the same few problems,

1) inner lining will smell really bad after a few sessions of heavy rain (combined with sweat from the humidity during the rain. This is even after I wipe/wash the inner lining)

2) The pants will tear in the inner lining near the crotch from the constant stretching and moving. (the area around the joints are the weakest)

3) water will seep in thru the zips (even the better brands)

So my own conclusion is to buy a few of the cheap ones and change after 8 months/1 yr.

My RS TAICHI rain jacket started to leak real bad in the torrent rain this week and it's only a year but the pants is still good. I hope can salvage it with 3M fabric water repellent if not going to switch to GIVI raincoat.

After spray with 3M fabric water repellent, the RS Taichi waterproofing seams becomes brittle and break up had to junk the rain suit and bought the $50 givi rain suit from Mah. It's called rider tech rainsuit rrs02, color is limited to black or black/white only. The rain suit keeps me completely dry after heavy torrent rain and surprisingly it's not hot like other cheapo raincoat which makes me perspire. The pants has no mesh lining like the jacket which is good hence it will not tangle up when removing. Only down side there is no pocket for keeping keys but than it's cheaper than RS Taichi DryMaster. Will see how long this can last .

Just came across this thread. Thanks all for the precious information. Yeah, twice a year, it will be heavy downpour season. My experience after skidding in the rain is that riders should get raincoats that offer some protection from road surface as well. I am thankful for my cheapo jacket for protecting my entire left arm during a recent skid. The bottom of my entire left arm was blue-black from fall but without the jacket sleeve, that whole blue black area would have been open.wound.

What I like about drymaster is its thinness.. Never thought it could hold up to torrential rain at first.. But after one year, I'm wearing it back to front due to leakage at the Velcro strap. Think the newer ones have thicker Velcro.

RS Taichi dry master can be bought for half the price at Tao Bao, my DM bought at motoworld is also made in China. The DM rain jacket fabric is different from the pants, it more porous hence can feel the dampness on your skin from heavy down pour, but the pants material is light and more waterproof. My jacket started to leak at the stomach area and eventually all over the place after 1 year, even though I take care to air dry after use and fold nicely and put in my backpack.

Thanks for the tao bao info. Just amazing how much the local shops jack up the price.

Dear riders, just some simple review. I had purchased the rev it rain jacket at Regina and used it immediately yesterday. My comment is it works good, the key reason buying this jacket is that it's luminous bright yellow so that I become visible. While other shops offers same colour, I find that it's really too much for a rain coat. I used to have rain coat at below $40 a set, now it's price tag is no longer the same. Taichi drymaster is nice but a little above my budget $1xx, givi does not have the bright colour design but good $, so rev it has got bright colour, within my budget.

Just a thought.
