Hi guys,

for tyres, I would think that generally it is accepted that the rear should wear out faster than the front.

This has been the case for the tyres I've used so far, across brands and models.

However for my current set of Michelin Road 2 on my FZ1 Fazer, the front seems to be wearing out faster than the rear.

As I check the pressures and top it up every 1-2 weeks, it comes about as a surprise a I don't think the front is overloaded or overpressured.

1 probably reason is that I use the front brakes far more often/ aggressive than the rear, which has a ABS safety net away.

Anyone got the same same wear pattern of front over rear?

Speaking of the tyres, it has seen 28,000km to date. And the set can probably last for a good 5000km, given that its a some way from the wear markings.

Value for money, and those are not even squared off. :)

Cheers.

Nothing to worry about. I previously encountered front wear rate twice as fast as rear before. It was the BT021 on my super 4. The rear lasted 40k km but the front only lasted 20k km. Maybe other Michelin Rd 2 users can confirm the same wear rate u facing. Otherwise it may be your usage pattern as you suspect. Do you slam on the front brakes since there is ABS these days? Or were u using more engine braking and lesser front brakes in the past?

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

I am not surprised. Some hardcore sports riders like a sport front and a road back. Perhaps thats what is in the road2.

Maybe not for the gixxer but for the fazers.

Road 3 is my next aim from the diablo strada. Seen the minimal wear from a stranger rider.

Some tires like the bt16 goes 2 front to 1 rear.

Braking habits, I would say that it's still more or less the same just that the ABS allows me to grab the front levers more instinctively. :)

But that should not really have a major contributing factor I tink, cos 99% of the time the brakes are gradual, not idiotic. haha

Did a check on the Net. The PR2 front tyre is a dual compound, with a soft centre and medium sides so to speak. But the rear's centre is medium hardness. So probably goes a way in explaining, though this kind of pattern might be similar for sports touring tyres in general. :D

Seen alot of good reviews for the Michelin Pilot Road 3.

Probably will go for these 2.

Never, ever save on tyres. :)
