I'm using sauce bottle. Bought the 300 ml bottle. And pressed it in.

Good idea! I'm using a syringe but it was 0.01 liter per squeeze! Thanks

800 ml only bro. Don't pour too much. Your engine will soaked

i just got myself a 2nd hand gts 200.

the deal was done through the owner's mechanic. was asking him questions on the maintenance of the bike since it was all done by him. some issue i take note on the maintenance done by him. now i worry about the condition of the gear.

1) he told me the bike needed 1,000 ml so i guess that the amount he used all the time.

2) when the deal was done and i was about to leave, i asked him what type of gear oil he is using. the oil he is using is GL-4 rated at 80w90 which the bike need GL-5 at 85w140. too bad i didn't ask that earlier. now i am worry about the condition of the bike gear.

Different gear type need different lubricant. GL-4 is for moderate speeds and load. GL-5 is intended for higher speed . But both are Hypoid , but the manual said need 85-140

I've noticed that my bike is smoother & no jerkiness when moving off after using the correct gear fluid....

As long u change it regular should not be any problem.

hope so. Further more the mechanic told me gear oil only need to change every 10,000 km :( I will change it to the correct oil ASAP.

The viscosity different between 90 and 140 grade is more then 10 cst. That quite a big gap.

If u want to be safe. Every 2 engine oil replacement , change the GO too. And for engine oil I go by month. Monthly always change. I'm heavy user with almost 80km/day .. so roughly change every 2000km every month.

thanks. will go by that. what about spark plug and air filter?

so let me recall again.

1) Engine oil is 800 ml

2) gear oil is 100-150 ml

just hope the gear is still in good condition. is the gear compartment easy to open? is it possible for me to ask him to open up to check?

really need to meet up with you guys to learn more. haha...

Spark plug you don't need to change it very often. I change it every 6 month. Although it might last till another 6 month. Air filter easy to open and I use vacuum cleaner to clean it. Some of us will have an DIY session next week if u interested.

Would it be better to use better oil and keep for longer period instead of what you're doing? Is there long life oil for bikes?

I've done 2 oil changed for my GTS so far, the second I opted for OWS and I like it! $26 at Unique (including spark plug) and should last me 5000km...I'm due a change soon, will continue to use OWS.

Oil life time is only estimation. It didn't count the high torque , over revving. Etc. Mine I'm doing DIY using motul bought at lab for 12 sgd. It's better be sure that your EO still fresh rather than keeping it there when it's already turn black. The Eo after sometime will reduce its quantity especially when the bike always on high rpm. Weekly check need to be done to check the oil level.
