Hi guys,

I’ve finally decided to get my Class 2 license at SSDC and went for my first practical earlier.

While riding normally, I feel fine and stable but the problem came during the pylon slalom course. Because we are instructed to go into gear 2 and I can’t touch the clutch at all, the bike tend to not have enough power and died on me in the midst of the course. Fell multiple times actually because the bike is always too wobbly as the RPM is too low but if I throttle too hard to increase the RPM, I go too fast to do the course.

Anyone has any tips for this? I don’t remember having this much problem during my 2A.

Hi Bro..

Usually for 2A and above, dun need to throttle at all.. Just throttle in the beginning to get up to speed to go up.. Then follow by half clutch and light rear brake.. Look infront while u are moving..

Engine died or Wobbly because your rear brake too hard without clutching in?.. Class 2A and above can go without throttle by itself, I usually use that to "walk" my bike. hahaha..

Btw, you got use front brake ah? (DO NOT use front brake, confirm wobbly)

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

I don’t use front brake eh, can clutch in for pylon slalom? Because the instructor keep on saying I can’t clutch in at all, will it be an immediate failure or just points? Because I rather get points then IF by falling or something..

ops.. i forgotten.. haha.. maybe cannot clutch.. if like this.. might need to use rear brake and throttle abit (to keep engine from not dying).

sorry.. Despite i just pass a few months ago.. Return the knowledge back to teacher already.. LOL.. But I'm sure need to use rear brake, and "maybe" light throttle to prevent from tipping over..

Hi Bro,

Happy to glad to hear that you are upgrading your license.
Basically in 2nd gear the bike will not stall by itself. I remember I attended defensive riding course after passing my class 2. Instructors there told us that simply kick in 2nd gear even without throttle input, the bike will simply jerk all the way without stalling.

Hence the best advice to you is to shift into 2nd gear after you enter the first corner and try feeding the throttle slightly just enough to keep the rev up without choking the bike. If you are too fast simply tap the rear brake slightly to adjust your speed. Hope it helps
