Hi All,

Exploring to buy a pre-owned 848, 1199 or  1098 for weekend bike.

Care to advise

1.) how is maintenance for these models like? how often months/mileage and cost.

2.) need to go back Ducati or is there any 3rd party workshop capable of servicing these super bikes?

Thanks

Good choice, i had the 1098S for awhile, was a blast to ride and slightly regret selling it.

1) Maintenance would depend mainly on your mileage. If you use it as a daily rider, costs are bound to be much higher. The 1098S was relatively reliable for me. If you're clocking 10-20k km a year, expect to spend anywhere from 2-3k in servicing and repair cost annually, that should be safe and more than sufficient unless something goes very wrong.

2) Plenty of outside workshops specialising in Ducatis. Race Werks, SBR Motors, Bikeworkz, all are famous for dealing in Ducatis. Probably cost you a lot less than going back to agent Wearnes. You might not get that free cup of coffee though haha! See which shop you are most comfortable with, might be worth a trip down to the workshops when you've collected your new Italian Stallion.

Welcome to Ducati~ :)

Hi Admin,

Thanks for reply.

It is going to weekend bike (Men's toy). Driving on weekdays. Will probably be below 5k mileage annually.  Does Ducati bike need to practice every 6mths servicing or 10km servicing, whichever comes 1st?

$2K-3K servicing - is this based on agent servicing? How much roughly to pay for servicing using outside workshops? $2K-3K annual servicing/repair annually costs more than my car servicing though *9

No worries at all buddy.

Usually i'd do 5,000km mileage or annually, whichever comes first. The newer models boast up to 20,000km service intervals but for the older models unfortunately they require quite frequently maintenance.

Normal servicing is relatively cheap but Desmo service could cost quite a fair bit.

You can take a look at @Unique_Motorsports price list for Ducati servicing here:

https://uniquemotorsports.com.sg/index.php/EconfigPressevent/Download?value=P10.pdf

They quote between 588 and 828 for servicing. Yes agent pricing would be closer to 1k. This does not include wear and tear like tyres, chain, polishing, etc.

If you get bitten by the mod bug then it could get *REALLY* expensive haha.

588 and 828 does not include desmo servicing? does it means desmo servicing needs to go back to agent? how much ~for desmo servicing? how often/milegae for desmo servicing?

tq
