Hello fellow riders, I'll be embarking on a journey across Malaysia in this upcoming August. I am still on the planning phase but the notable spots I wish to visit are Genting Highlands, Kuala Lumpur (Rice Fields), Pahang, Perak (Tempurung Cave) and all the way up to Penang. Kelantan under consideration. 1400Km-1600Km. The Journey would approximately take 5-7 days (If weather permits). For experience overlanders, any picturesque spot or places would you recommend? If you wish to tag along, you may DM or post on down below. Take note, I'm structuring my plans as a solo rider first but will take your considerations seriously and generally pretty loose with the route. Plans are just guidelines after all. I would want to avoid riding at night as well.

Budget in SGD

  • Budget for hotels, staycay ($20-$40) per night. So total around $200+/- through Booking.com app
  • Food in cash. Probably around $15 or less per day. $120 or less.
  • Fuel in cash. Considering my bike is an Fz6. 18L Tank (2 bars left must filliup!. Pump RON97. $1.36per liter x 14 = $19.04. Round to $20 x 8 = $160 + $40(Emergency)

Total around $520 convert to RM1660. $320 = RM1020 cash. The rest for booking.

Hi.. just sharing my experiences previously.. Not coming along but my brother might be keen. (Let me share your post to him and see if he's keen)

Location - Genting Highlands, Kuala Lumpur (Rice Fields), Pahang, Perak (Tempurung Cave) and all the way up to Penang

I would suggest you to start from far.. reason? You will have better stamina and feel and mood on day 1.. As the days goes by, you will feel more and more tired..

So 1st stop (Day 1 and 2) will be Penang (Start as early as 6am.. then by the time you eat finish breakfast, pump petrol then you can move off when the day becomes bright.)

You will usually reach by night fall with the average speed of 110km/h...

Pahang which part? Perak?

2nd stop (Day 3) - Tempurung Cave

3rd stop (Day 3) - Kuala Lumpur (Rice Fields)

4th stop(Day 4 and 5) - Genting Highlands (Take note to use engine brake and not brakes while going downhill)

Day 6 - head back Singapore

1) Budget for hotel - stay around the range of $50 will be better, you dun wan to get bed bugs for lower cost hotels. (Yes, can book from booking.com app or agoda.. any platform will be alright but check for reviews)

2) Food wise, my budget is always $10/meal.. just in case you wan to eat something better.. even Mac in Singapore cost you about $10 already...

3) Fuel will based on FC and always look at highest range, you don't wan to run out of cash or no fuel..

One more thing to take note.. Don't go solo.. preferably with another 2 more riders.. (just in case)

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

Please proceed to this website/web link if you guys have any technical issues on Kawasaki Kips/KR150, I'll update the 1st POST as and when there's a new question. Newbies questions on the top as well. :)

I've done solo trips several times before consist of mostly 3 days but none further than Genting or Pahang. My recent trip was from Yong Peng to Pahang because of Hari Raya.

For Hotel yeah can be very flexible because payment will be through Booking. My thinking for Day 1 would either be Negeri Sembilan and morning would go to Genting Highland or near the evening of day 1 if have enough time. Then from Genting go down to the Kuala Lumpur Rice Fields. For Pahang would be the beaches.

I'm more into twisities and would rather avoid busy town areas unless just passing through

ok la.. then based on your preference come up with a rough planning.. then see anyone keen to follow.. I can help you share to telegrams chat and etc.. I'm sure someone will follow as long you have the plan like

Day 1 - xxxxx

Day 2 - xxxxx

Day 3 - xxxxx

and so on.. cost wise, I would suggest to let them know higher then later ask you why your cost become a high difference.. :) (Personal experience again based on my previous organised trips) :)

That's why the best part of being solo is that you're responsible of yourself mah. Your only liability is yourself 😁

I will post a general route soon after work and if got any scenic places yall can recommend or want to visit I'll gladly put into consideration

Got into contact with an uncle from Facebook who's interested in joining me. We met up for coffee to discuss our riding preferences and date. As of now, though unconfirmed - the riding would take place at the 3rd week of August. Morning of Sunday.

@HendricksonX - take note of this (especially the slow down) and try to ride at least once..

hand sign - verify with those who are going with you.. We had an accident because people don't read important messages and claim they understand hand sign... (until when you really use it on the road)
