I'm gonna mount my gopro on my helmet later and see what the hell have I been doing wrong.

Why not?

 

Sounds quite ridiculous unless they got some proper reason to disallow students from wearing a camera.

 

They won't allow you to.

Yesterday night was my second attempt at lesson 3. Though I improved at the slope but figure 8 and crank proved to be a disaster. The instructor mentioned my co-ordination not there and asked when's the last time I came for lesson. Jialat. My timing was over 15s!!! Later on, the told us that none of us cleared lesson 3 with the fastest time 11.21 (fail!)....hiaz, think maybe I didn't motogp at all in the fig8 thus the poor timing. Any advice bros/sis? Normal?? How to improve??? Thnx

When babies learn to walk, they stumble and fall. When children learn to swim, they flail and drink mouthfuls of water. Since you're new to biking, a lack of proficiency is to be expected, so don't lose heart!

 

1) eye points - look 90 degrees into the turn

2) throttle - keep your throttle at a constant level (don't open or close it while in the figure 8)

3) moderate your speed with your rear brake. Step more if you're to fast, release more if you're too slow

4) practice practice practice

 

That's all there is to it.

One of my group mates passed with a timing of 11.4s leh. It was her 4th try, I guess the instructor was lenient. Sigh. My 2nd try on Sunday. Every time I think of the fig 8 and crank my heart starts racing like a crazy fangirl's. But not in a good way.

So I didn't pass my 2nd Prac 3 (fig 8 timing exceeded by 1 sec), but I just wanted to say that timewalker84's crank "cheat code" worked like a charm. The instructor also gave me the same tip today, except he said to let go the clutch. So throttle, up 2nd gear, release clutch but DON'T throttle. Roll through until the last third of the course, then gently throttle through. Take that, stupid right angles.

i got 6 points and 150 bucks for lane splitting and not slowing down to allow a cab to change lanes! (they called it careless driving)
