You can also practice inside the nursery, when you see no prac one students using. There are the figure 8 markings on the floor, but no kerb to hinder you. And best of all, you can go around and around, over and over, no queue!

I'm stuck at Lesson 8, and I'm glad I found this on the back of the circuit map the instructors provided -

Okay, I'm a bit confused when it comes to Safety Check (Check back) and Blindspot Check on the road. As per the image, upon exiting CDC at the first traffic light junction, if you're the first bike, you need to check back left only (Away from the kerb) ? But if you're the second bike, you check back left as well, followed by checking your blindspot to the right?

Route 1 -

- If you stopped at the filter lane because you need to give way to traffic, before moving off you check back left?

- At the U-turn junction, if you stopped because the traffic light is red, before moving off, if you are the bike on the left side, you check back right, isn't it? And if you're the bike on the right side, you check back left?

The other thing is that for lesson 8, I think I used to score point for "Fail to check blind spot" when I did all my blindspot checks correctly. Verified with the instructor for my mistake and he highlighted that it was for the starting at the nursery, when turning left, he mentioned that I counter-checked. Anyone else experienced what I got as well for lesson 5 / lesson 8 ?

Need guidance from all those who have passed and gotten your licenses. And please, do correct me if i'm wrong. Thank you very much!

It doesn't matter where you are on the circuit or road. The principal is always the same. When moving off to go straight from a standstill you always check back right unless there is a kerb on your right. If kerb on right you check left. When you're turning left from a standstill you check back right and left before moving off. If turning right from a standstill it depends if you have a kerb on the right or not. All the above applies when you are first bike. If you are second bike the moving straight rule applies then you check blind spot of the direction you are turning

So.. For the first traffic light junction upon exiting CDC, when turning right, check back left only? It seems to be only like half a kerb, then there's no kerb.

Chevron marking is treated like kerb. If you are first bike at the first traffic light it's a white line on your right not a kerb or a chevron so check right

Check left since usually the white line is far from the actual turning point. Then as you reach the turn in check blind spot on your right

Read my post above. It's universal no matter where u are. Filter lane only 1 bike in center of lane so no kerb on the right means check right. . It is also penalty if u check more than required times.

Class 2A should be simpler. Not more than 20pts within the circuit, there is no road test for 2A.

But.. whatever bad habits, u seed during your 1yr road experience, is pretty hard to change away.

That's why I still ride like school. Right foot up left foot down. Lane split using plank technique with rear brake and half clutch.

A very heartfelt thank you to everyone who once gave their advices to me, especially to @rijac for the detailed posts on the TP (which I have read at least 7 times from start to end through out the learning journey) and other adhoc advices. I have finally passed 2B TP today! :D

On a side note, TP was really nerve wrecking, especially in the room while waiting for the testers to call out numbers. Glad it's over for now haha.

Gear 5 or 6 you also use half clutch and rear brake?

I don't risk my life lane splitting at high speed. Only in the jams

am I allowed to change my clear visor to a tinted one for use in school?

since the visor would be up during practical lessons anyways.

Hi guys,

Newbie here asking a few question. not sure if anyone of u know or not..

I'm planning to get a new helmet while i'm still a student of CDC Prac6 as my helmet making my head feel painful/headache whenever I wore it about after 1 hour (maybe my head grew bigger due to heats).

My plan is to get this helmet all the way till it spoil/wear and tear. So I'm thinking of getting a better helmet as not to waste more money to get a cheaper helmet than get another better 1 after getting my bike.

I was thinking of getting Full Face helmet with flip up. I heard some new helmet got new kind of stripe (clipping type) Does CDC approve both of it?

Thanks & Best Regards

W

Are you referring to a clip on or flip up fullface? The chin piece may break off or dislodge in a bad crash. It's not as good as a true fullface.

Since its pretty much a half face when you remove or flip up the chin piece, I don't see why they wouldn't allow it. I don't think it's a good substitute for a proper fullface though.
