I guess this whole issue is something we will have to sit and watch.

Though they have been talking about it more and more often. SOmething will be done but dunno what.

I reckon...the best way is to charge foreign vehicles in JB/Perak/Kelantan a difference rate of petrol prices and this will save all the trouble and allow them to enjoy their subsidies too.

"Deep within us all, lies a secret garden where we retreat to at the end of the day, to ease our wearied mind and bodies…â€

Yr FZ6 is 04 or 05? Its normal for this model to have the squeeky brake sounds, try to wash/blow the dusts away from the calipers as often as you can.Squeeky problems are solve with the newer model...

Mine also having this problem '08, tink bro skai same model. Guess the brake pad gets rusty after rain. Have to oil oil abit..

Let them implement the ban then. Anyway I've been topping SG fuel for months! :p :P

Then let their petrol stations see the sharp decrease in revenue. Let their eateries feel the sting, as casual tourists stop popping by. Sooner or later, the business owners will pressure the Gov to either lift the ban, or come up with a subsidy/no-subsidy plan ASAP.

Oh bro... you got that all wrong.

I've been riding a screwed up 2 stroke small cc bike that is consuming as much fuel as a 600cc. ;) Something is wrong with this bike, but i've been too lazy to leave it in a workshop since i sold the FZ6 'cos we need transport. Imagine a 150cc getting 16km a liter and you know why I wanna get the big cow again. :D

Engine choking, coughing, mileage drop from 20 to 18, now 16 km a liter. Pump in $21 only get 170km mileage. Somemore lately got metallic vibration and chattering noise from the engine. LOL. Jialat. Last year of COE. After that scrap. If I'm gonna have that kinda fuel consumption, I might as well get the power and speed too!! :D

I just begun pumping petrol in JB and have already changed a few hundreds in light of the higher exchange rate to supplement my petrol. Now, what to do with the RM.... Haiz...

Hope they review it... as they did for the RM20 charge on cars.

Tour de Singapore anyone?:slapforehead: :faint:

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - The government will ban people in foreign-registered vehicles from buying gasoline in border areas of Malaysia, where heavy subsidies have kept petroleum costs low despite soaring prices internationally.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Shahrir Abdul Samad said a day earlier that the ban was aimed at keeping foreigners from driving into Malaysia from Thailand and Singapore to fill up on cheap gasoline and diesel, which cost up to twice as much in the neighboring countries.

The ban was "a stern act by the government to reduce the leak in subsidy," national news agency Bernama quoted Shahrir as saying. His aide, who declined to be named citing protocol, confirmed his comments Tuesday.

The fuel subsidies, which were expected to cost the government 45 billion ringgit (US$14 billion; 9 billion) this year, "should actually be enjoyed by the lower-income group in the country" and not foreigners, Shahrir said.

"This move is temporary until we come up with better management of our subsidy system," The Star daily quoted him as saying.

Shahrir said the ban could take effect as early as Friday at up to 300 stations within 30 miles (50 kilometers) of the borders with Thailand and Singapore.

Alang Zari Ishak, president of a local petroleum dealers association, said the ban may hurt tourism and relations with Malaysia's neighbors.

"It's a very harsh decision," he said. "There are other ways to curb this subsidy money being utilized."

Enforcement officers will monitor gasoline stations and signs will inform motorists of the new rule, Shahrir said. Those found breaking the rule could be fined or face up to three years in jail, said another official in Shahrir's ministry. He declined to be named, citing protocol.

Currently, foreign registered vehicles are allowed to buy only up to 5.3 gallons (20 liters), he said.

Huh? how u all interprete? i also blur liao..this is my version based on what i read

Currently can fill up to 20 litres... come friday, ban will be in effect. And he ban is to:

"ban people in foreign-registered vehicles from buying gasoline in border areas of Malaysia". Not pump to a max of 20 Litres

Call to reconsider ban on sale of petrol to foreigners

Dan Guen Chin, BERNAMA

JOHOR BAHARU, TUES:

Any decision to ban the sale of petrol to foreign registered cars in border states should not be done too hastily, said Johor’s former tourism executive councillor Datuk Jimmy Low.

He likened the decision by the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry to bar petrol stations from selling diesel and petrol to foreign registered vehicles as “killing the goose which lays the golden eggs”, especially in the Johor context.

Low, who held the tourism portfolio from the mid 80s to the early 90s, said that banning sales was not the solution to solve the subsidy problem. "We all know that Johor Baharu is a popular destination for Singaporeans and furthermore, there is the 3/4 tank ruling imposed on Singapore cars if they want to leave the Republic. "During my time we made a survey and found that at least 20,000 to 30,000 Singaporeans are day trippers, which means they come in their cars, do their shopping and eating and then drive home. "And each Singaporean spent an average of RM200. That’s a lot of money for the economy of Johor Baharu. So what if they pump half a tank of Malaysian petrol,” Low told Bernama.

Low, who is now retired from politics, admits that foreigners should not benefit from the lower prices of petrol and diesel available here. "But there are better ways of doing it (controlling sales). I believe Singaporeans who pump petrol here are genuine tourists and are not doing it for profit on the black market. "Also there is the question of enforcing the latest ruling by the Ministry.

Are we up to it and can we spare the officers at all the petrol kiosks within the affected areas. "In the long run I still think reducing road tax is a better option if we want to help the public cope with the rising prices of petrol,” added Low.

Boleh! Boleh! they never think of the effects incidental to the ban..

Any Ester based fully synth will do fine.

Maxima and Motul already have them.

For the distance, I prefer 15W50. Lasts longer.

10W40 may be great for hard riding, but it just doesn't go the distance. After 3000, your shifting will start to feel notchy.

I used the Maxima 10W40 again. Didn't see the 15w50 on the shelf at Planet.

Yeah, after ard 3500km, can feel the engine getting bit rough. Average joe rider who dun whack the engine. Guess will change to other types next time.

Look at it the other way.

For years, SG and Thai cars/ bikes are filling up the vehicles with cheaper fuel at the cost of the MY govt and people.

The fuel is cheap bcos it's subsidised by the MY people's tax $$$.

They dun owe it to us basically.

If we pay tax and 1% of it goes to 'providing' cheaper fuel to outsiders, it does not makes sense right...

Business might suffer initially, but people dun just go to MY for the petrol lah, I tink. They load up on groceries and stuff. Even groceries now they also ban certain types.

Look like that the Singapore GDP for 2008 can adjust abit up.

Guess which word had this meaning.

1. Any code or set of principles containing different provisions for one group of people than for another, esp. an unwritten code of sexual behavior permitting men more freedom than women.

2. A set of principles permitting greater opportunity or liberty to one than to another, especially the granting of greater sexual freedom to men than to women.

3. A set of principles establishing different provisions for one group than another; also, specifically, allowing men more sexual freedom than women.

Relax relax.... nothing to worry about.

They'll see that they'll kill their own economy at the borders.

Same thing for the $20RM surcharge for cars.

But having said all of that. Its their call.

Their country. So its up to them.

Boleh la! Nev think of the consequences and always in a hurry to make silly decisions.

The bridge was one now this. Now why am I not amused?

anyway i dont think the ban will last,...may die a natural death even before it started, the present government has more worrying issues to think about, like how not to lose their position as government

Nicely said. I'm almost 99.9999% sure that it'll not go through, or last less than a month if it does.

Either that or there'll be a massive Economic issues in JB!

yeah mine same as Need4speedz's.. 2008 model.

most of the time that has squeeky sounds is when i park my bike for too long (e.g overnight)

just checked with mech few days ago if the brake pad needs replacement, he said both front and back still have enough, no need to change.

i'm guessing its becos of the quality of the OEM pad?
