hey guys,

ok, i intend on going for my 1st servicing next week. And i am not too sure what exactly do i need to check on? Is EO change the only servicing i need, or are there others i need to take not of? Been riding for onl;y 3k km mileage so far, but wanna keep my baby well serviced. Any other stuff i need to check on? Besides HL, any mechanics in the east side to reccomend? How abt unique?

Another thing, iv installed aftermarket exhausts, but have not done any tuning. Now, my bike seems a lil jerky on the pickup, and a sudden increase in FC to arnd 18km/l. So should i go for tuning after changing the pipes?

Lastly, if i get the power commander, what kind of change can i expect from my bike?

Any idea where can i get tank bra? i've tried Motorworld, but always no stock around.

I'm riding a FZ6, so hopefully you can give me advice on it.

Thanks alot though...

How fast you want to go or how torquey you want you FZ to be? It's a FZ afterall. You should ask yourself, what you wish your FZ to be...like fuel saver, street fighter to 'kill' R1 & Busa anytime. or in touring setup?

Ok for the above wish list there are a few which are essential (ok ok, some call it stage 1 mod, me no expert so let leave it as it is).

1. Power Commander - for Fuel / Air ratio setup for the type of ride power band you desire. Stock ECU not able to be done by user.

2. After market air filter - To compliment your PC play around effectively, my stock paper filter makes my FZ feels more pack on the power frequency,

3. Spark plug - Some extend to reason 2, but some mentioned, it will make your bike slightly powerful, me a sceptical on this reason though,

(Aftermarket air filter & plugs makes my bike 'soft' on pickup.)

4. IVAN's FCE - Heard that it will enchance for smoother ride, result can be seen best on 06 FZ, 07 FZ1 has improve ( i dun have this so can't comment much),

5. You will need the steering damper to catch the powerful beast you desired when facing crisis on the road,

6. after market pipe, let your Fz breathe better and to compliment reason 2 to get a full map onboard. I tuned with stock pipe, the ride improves too.

With these basic mod, your FZ is quite ok for daily riding. Good enough to cause a small havoc on the road. Unless you want it to be track goer, then the above mods you mention are very necessary. You have missed out the 'Fly' mod.

=========== Not so critical mods below for daily ride ==============

7. Velocity Stack - Not necessary, it only act slight effect on Fz in the mid range powerband. Price is not justifiable for this small gain,

8. You have power but no brakes... after market brake system is good to pull the beast to stop,

9. Shock & damper system for better cornering touch,

Lighter conrod, flywheel, carbon rims, crank shaft, race spec bearings, weight savers not so crucial if for daily commuting usage. You dun ride at 280kmph every minute on the road and not competing with anyone every road you go rite?

Note: Doing up all the fast mod will shorten the easy going life of your bike.

Carbon parts for me are for beautfy only, not much effect for daily usage. Unless my nemesis is V. Rossi every race. Then i will not riding FZ, i will be riding the M1.

If to have high power bike then R1 is the 1st choice.

Just my 2 cents. Hope you enjoy your FZ's rides.

Cheers.

Thanks for the comments.Don't worry my mood is not spoilt.I take what you said positively.I'm not exactly gonna do all this mods.No way.I just wanna learn and ask around what riders have done and who have done it.I love to know all these infos.FZ1N is already fast enough for me or maybe too fast.If possible in the near future I just wanna make my bike more torquey,NOT faster. That's all.

Hello there, I go unique defu & planet ah chong.

For pipes,Recommended to go for tuning. But I read overseas forum that you need to disconnect the battery power when installing pipes. This will enable the o2 sensor to auto calibrate after installations.

PCIII is a plus cause dont have to worry much about a/f ratio cause adjusted according to ure desire.

Tank bra, bo pian motoworld, wait for 2-3 months... unless u want auntie brand:sian:

If you're using a full face helmet can use a heavy duty chain to chain the chin area of the FF to the handlebars or anywhere that fits.

Costs $20+ at the shop beside Regina that sells locks. Damn thick chain. At least got some deterence, considering H&B side panniers also can pry open with simple tools.

sh1t... i'm having H&B side panniers lo... :sian::sian::sian:

U should have gotten the slightly more ex one (silver/black) for like $1 more i think.

Have friends saying its better.

yes it's definitely better... tested and proven... you can have free testings at autobacs & carefour... but if u do your testing at carefour, better check ard 1st for weak hearted folks e.g. grandmas or grandpas... else they will be scared the hell out of their life and might collapse! hahaha~

i installed it at the horn original position.

if you notice your magnum horn package comes with 4 piece of metal bracket, use 2 for each side, it it stronger this way.

then, you have to bend the metal to fit your horn. use 1 metal to get the shape before bending the other for toughness.

also, the opening of the horn must not face front, cus water might drips in and flood the area. it might cause the horn to fail to function. long term might cause the horn to spoil. so, the best way is to face towards you.

yes, make sure the position you place your horn, it will not hit your fender or fork or any part of your bike.

yes i would suggest better not put near the engine. you nvr knows what will happens.

hmmm, maybe how abt 2moro i take some pics of the position etc then share with you? some of my humble pics if you don't mind watching. :cheeky:

Then the FZ is not for you. You want torque? KTM Duke and Triumph Speed triple will suit you better. My previous bike was Ktm 525exc motard. The torque is much more than the FZ.

Huh?What's wrong with you?Telling me that the FZ is not the bike for me?Did you fully understand my reply to you?Different riders have different preferences over some mods done to their bikes.Well fyi,I rode a motard too before switching to an FZ1N.Obviously you can't compare the power to weight ratio of the FZ to your KTM 525exc motard. They are 2 totally different bikes and these other 2 bikes you mentioned,KTM Duke(8v,75 Deg V-twin) & e Speed Triple(16v,DOHC,Inline Triple) both have different engine configurations overall and hence the huge torque output. Please read what I 1st posted and try to understand.Everybody's here to learn & share.

1)Air Filter

2)Power Commanders

3)Power Abuser/Ignite

4)Impedance stabilizer

5)Iridium Spark Plugs

6)Velocity Stacks

7)Aftermarket internals like lighter conrods, pistons, crankshaft etc..

Weight Saving mods thus increasing power to weight ratio like

1)BST Carbon wheels

2)Lighter flywheels

3)Full carbon fibre kits all over the bike

4)Remove unnnecessary weight from your bike

5)520 chain conversion with lighter aftemarket sprockets

I was just wondering.. Anyone out there??Thanks

Let me state my intentions clearly.I'm not here to argue or quarrel with you but the way you put it is like I'm not happy with my bike.I was just asking around. You may share your views, experience, this & that but don't tell me things beyond that.I love my bike and I accept all advise from the new and experience riders in this forum.Pardon my words if it's offensive but the 1st line you replied ''Then the FZ is not for you'' was rather unhealthy.I am nobody to tell you that your words are wrong but I think it's healthy to maintain the harmony that has been in here all along.Peace.Ride safe everyone.
