The 04 model FZ6 looks bigger than the 06-08 model FZ1 when placed side by side, due to the height of the FZ6's fuel tank. The touted larger fuel tank is negligible though. I once ran my tank dry and pumped 19 litres exactly, although the manual stated 19.4L :sian:

Brasso is OK on the headers. I used them on the headers before, but not sure if it could remove the melted plastic in your case though. Try using a dish washing scrub and brasso?

wow that be the biggest mistake to use a steel wool, it will scratch and remove the protective material, then rust will set in in future...true that will be the fastest way to remove but i wont advise using that even to remove rust.

Start up your bike and make sure that the exhaust is hot, then use a piece of wood or stick and slowly scrape it off...it will take quite a fair bit of time to remove..have fun...

Hello bros,

My fz1s 07' is due for a valve clearance check and my mileage now is 42k km.. :giddy:

I was thinking of doing my valve clearance at HL, they quote me $600+ and could take up to two weeks which is long..

Another choice would be HKL but how do u guys think of the workmanship there? Any of u guys send ur bikes there for valve clearance? Is it more cheaper? Will it take up to two weeks for the valve clearance?

Any other reputable shops for valve clerance service?

Pls advice..

Your valve setting or rides giving you problem? Noisy? Lost of power? Some bros may say if nothing is wrong, dun do. Though, according to the user manual, the Periodic Maintenance Schedule is at 40000km.

Money is one issue but time without a bike ride for daily commuting is another bigger issue (for me). Worst, after 'open up' the engine, things starts to leak or not right..... 'Mi Kia Bo Pia, Mai Tai' Thing no defect, dun dismantle....

Did you try ask Beng Tong (Mah motor), Ah Heng (Southern Motor) & RaceWerks? I did not done such big job by them before, but bike under their hands i am at least feel safer abit.

Ask for the down time, reviews from others and pricing 1st before commit. At least the 1st 2 i have higher confiden in em. Old hands with much experience. Well, it is up to individual's opinion.

Good Luck.:thumb:

I think 300++ is still bearable. Workmanship & parts are pricey. Agent usually charge higher pricing, but of cos, quality will be assured.

One thing i cannot tahan is that They DO NOT repair bikes over weekends.... Must take leaves to send bike there and if to leave bike there, need to allocate another day to go and collect..... :dozed:

My ride is ok.. Just wanna follow the periodic maintenance.. Some say must do the valve clearance or else later engine become big problem.. I'm not sure myself.. But the tick tick sound near my engine is getting a bit loud... Its getting me a bit worried... I;ll try to ask at HKL first.. Any good mechanics you guys can name me specialising in valve clearance?

You have got to check what they are going to do for you for HL and the other bike shop. Some may qoute cheaper price as they only change the pump for you only. Some expensive perhaps they will do up other parts for you or give you better quality non OEM parts.... let says those of branded better quality coolant hoses. Cheaper may not be better, expensive may not be worst, better services better parts. You need to compare both 1st. If the same stuffs for big diff price, go for HL, safer and Q.A. assured.

I was asking for 1 parts (accs) the local distributor qouted me 1000k+ without installation, another shop qouted me $800+ plus installation. Same stuffs, same waiting time, diff price and services.

It's up to you go and search ard if time is on your side and how comfy you are with the mech/shop.

Ermax for FZ1 is $270. OEM i guess should be more expensive ba..... quality wise not sure.

Full cowl looks nice, but cooling effect will be affected. FZ got a HOT 'heart'. FZ1 esp.

Mine was Ermax... I bought it cos i bought the ERMAX side panel (half fairing) who knows......sigh......... $270 just gone with the paddle of water when i dashed through it....

Didn't realise it till i got home, at 1st still no feeling then realised that plastic costed $270, LL rode back to search.... can't be found. Found also no use.. the brute force simply tore the mountings (raw force) apart, mount side wall still with bracket.... main pan gone.... :(

Wah! The belly pan broke off after you rode through a flood!?! I guess it was scooping to much water. I'm considering the belly pan as well. Does it lower the ground clearance alot? Any issues with humps?

Feel sorry for you bro intruder.I was also thinking of getting a belly pan but after your mishap,it needs to be reconsidered.Nowadays a lot of hazards on SG roads.I was driving my friend's car ystrdy when a solid red brick fell off from a huge truck carrying waste brick and it went under the car.Couldn't avoid it.THUMP!!!It hit the bottom of the car like somebody slammed all the 4 car doors shut at the same time!Damn now I avoid riding or driving behind or beside a heavy vehicle. You never know what danger lurks...

Some SG roads are like Jb now or even worse in some parts of SG... Stay alert n ride safe bros.

Hey thanks max.

i won't be using the steel wool lah. so sayang if scratch the header.and like you said may promote rust afterwards. I think i slowly use brasso and cloth and wipe slowly lah hor. cannot clean it overnite la. may take a few session before the melt nylon will slowly go away. So lesson learnt, don't cover the bike while its still hot! haiyo!

Anyway i prefer the ermax bellypan than e oem one. Looks more garang lah esp on a naked fazer. but the oem more suitable with the half faired. juz my tot!
