i also kena this problem. the inspection guy said nothing wrong with the IU. so i let him try with my 2 cashcards & he also tried with his cashcard. sometimes ok, then not ok. he finally relented & gave me new IU FREE. but he claimed he doesnt know how to fix IU on bike. then what am i to do? pay to get people to fix? he mumbled something in tagalog b4 he cut the wires of the old & new IU & fixed them together with tape!

 

If you hate your big IU and it is within warranty period, then short it out.

 

You'll get a replacement FOC.

dont know, ask any bike mechanic and they will tell you so...new iu although is smaller and nicer but is not as robust as the older version, already i have frens with new iu that have failed

I had bad experience with the new IU before. Before I went for my 1 week holiday last year, I washed my bike and left it there for a week. The day I returned and went into the gantry, I realised my IU wasn't working at all. Immediately the next morning I went to Vicom for IU inspection.

 

The mechanic found out that it was my IU's fuse that rusted and a layer of rust foamed up that blocks the current from flowing through. He then told me that the cable and the fuse holder of the new ones are lousier than any other older models.

 

Mine was later changed to a car's fuse holder instead where water cannot get in, this is what he said, I'm not sure... haha... That's my IU story...

yup... new IU's fuse holder is those cheapo little plastic holder... water may sip in still...

hey guys btw ah.. for fz6.. when u go normal svcing one time (every 4000km right?), how much it roughly costs?

 

i estimate

3.4l engine oil = $70+-

oil filters how many?= ??

4 spark plugs if iridium change every 15000km?= ??

total= ??

 

 

sorry guys i know these questions can sometimes get on your nerves but i dont wana bite off more than i can chew. considering getting a 2nd hand fz6 but dont want to be a "slave" to the maintenance of the bike as i am still schooling and at most work abit of part time. cheers!

for fz6, we use only 2.8L of EO when u include the change of oil filter... if without the change of oil filter, it's only 2.6L of EO...

hence, 3 bottles of EO is good enough... monie wise, depending on what EO u buying...

 

for oil filter, any brand of oil filter will do...

the main objective of a oil filter is to filter oil la... hahaha...

anyway, prices can vary from $10 to $15 i suppose...

 

for spark plug, i change it every 10k km...

but some of the bros here change it at every 20k km...

at 10k km, they will only take it out to inspect if it's worn out or not...
