Yesterday my 7yr old fazer 600 experienced sudden engine stall numerous times while riding and finally died. Luckily was near a motor-shop, so pushed it there. The mechanic said my engine stop switch or my ignition key are faulty. So he rewired the thing to bypass the engine stop switch and it seems to be working now. He also said some of the older keys the electronics inside can be faulty causing scary sudden engine shutdown while riding.

:faint:

jus my 2cents..

Wire your IU to the ignition and see if the problem persists. I used to have an issue with batt draining until I changed the IU wiring. The prob went away.

Next check ur voltmeter. Cud be sometin simple like a loose wire or cud be the voltmeter itself.

BUT, if it remains, check ur battery and rectifier first then ur coil. New batt doesn't mean it can't fail. Change coil wud be meaningless if ur batt or rectifier is faulty.

if you not sure how to do the checks, please go to a trusted mech.

U r right DaBonz.

After rewiring my IU, my battery draining prob is solved! :thumb:

Ah Chong just reconnect the 1 of the IU wires to the fuse box and that's it.

And he also found out my voltmeter readings r inaccurate, he said aftermarket voltmeters are like that one.

Thanks for yr advice!

Just wondering will there be any difference in enjoyment if I upgrade my Fazer 600 to a Fazer 1000? Or should I wait till my Fazer 600 10 year coe finish, save enough for a FJR1300?

Or get another G4!

But personal opinion and feedback, FZ1 and FJR are two different bike. 1 is shaft and the other is chain/ sprocket. I reckon u get more fun doing acceleration run out of FZ1 than FJR

If you are to ask me, I personally feel that FZ is more nimble and can pick up faster than a FJR. Maybe becos of the heavy bulky weight of the FJR.

However, a FJR (due to its weight) will be quite stable at high-end speed of > 220km/hr. But then, I have not tried or reached 220km/hr on a FZ, so I cannot comment if it is very wobbly for a FZ.

Also, I think the top-end speed of the FJR is higher than a FZ. The FJR is a good stable ride for NSH travelling.

But then again, a FZ with fairings and wind-shield can do the job too.

One adv I find is that one does not need to lub the chain constantly, as FJR runs on shaft.

Just change shaft oil frequently and the shaft is going to last you for long.

Hi all,

I have been having problems with my FZ lately. Usually when i warm up my bike, the RPM will hit about 1200-1300 and when it reaches 55 degrees, the RPM will be slightly below 1000. Yesterday morning when i warm up my bike, my RPM hit 1500 and did not go down even after the temperature of the bike hits 75 degress. I decided to just move off with the RPM at 1500. When i hit the first traffic light after exiting the carpark, than only the RPM goes back to normal which is slightly below 1000. It happened this morning too..

Any of you have encountered this problem before? Need help on what i can do or where i can go to to resolve this problem. BTW my bike is only 6 months old.

On a side note i have already joined the Fazer FB group. :p FB name (Farhan Buffer)

Hi Frazerians, can share how to shine our tyres? The road I travel on to work is so dusty and dirty that my tyres look almost grey even after washing. I was thinking of using my liquid spray on type which I used on my car but worry that it might make it slippery. Comments please.
