Just get the 2013 model. 2014 model no changes expect colour.

Whatever year model you get, remember to buy one with ABS.

Just a difference of a few hundreds, but this is the best hundreds that you will ever spend on a motorcycle. Trust me. :)

Thank you for the reply and sorry for late response. I'm looking at the current promo for fz1n and there is no abs.

Also I compared fz1n with cb1000r. Look wide I like cb1000r. But what I read online and the reviews, they say fz1n better. Any say on this ?

Also heard that it's easier to mount erp unit and stuffs on fz1n then cb1000r.

There is a popping sound for fz1n stock exhaust. Will it be removed if the pipe is changed. Do I need to change air filter too?

Last question. What does power commander do? It's too chim to under the technical terms. They say about mapping and stuffs. I don't understand. Enlighten me. Thank u:)

Never rode CB1000R before, but its not as common as FZ1 for sure.

Just wondering aloud will there be any issue with spare parts compared.

Speaking from personal experience, the ABS probably saved me twice in the 4 years of ownership.

It's a very good passive safety net. Again, no reason to buy a bike without it.

I guess most change the pipes for the outlook, sound and some weight savings, rather than any significant outright performance upgrade.

You do not need to tune the bike if you are just changing the muffler, rather than the whole system.

For the popping sound, I quite like it actually. haha

Power Commander allows you to adjust the power and response of the bike, so to speak.

You (more like, the shop with a trusted tuner) can tune it to your liking, if the default mapping of the bike is not to your liking.

But I wonder if there is any real benefit you you use the bike just to get from Point A to Point B, just commuting to places.

Else, the money is better spent on everyday things like a good tyre or even a gear indicator. :)

Thank u for the feedback. A bike shop from Alexandra told me that if I change my brake hose cable I will lose the abs system. Unless I get the cable with abs which cost a lot more. Is it true ?

I'm planning to have this ride for at least 4 years. Being riding class 2b all this while. So can I have a rough estimation of servicing tt needs to be done ?

4 engine oil :$ ?? (Good brand)

4 spark plug :$ ?? (NGK)

What else do u change every 3-4 months?

Sorry to bomb so many questions. Better to know earlier. Thank u.

looks like it's either you misheard the information or the bike shop is trying to carrot you.. but rarely see ABS model bikes change brake hose especially to aftermarket steel braided ones due to its cost..

btw fyi, fz1 uses 2.9L of EO (3.1L if there's a change of OL).. any fully sync EO should be good enough.. generally each bottle is around $20 or so..

spark plug.. go for NGK CR10EIX or equivalent.. can last u 30k to 50k mileage..

generally, maintenance wise is the same as ur 2B bike.. wear & tear stuffs, change when needed..

I am also waiting for fz1n abs version, currently got promo but no abs. I also want to wait.

Another question, what is the best fit for fz1n side panniers? Pls advise, tks.

there's no best fit in the world.. there's only best look at owner's eye..

try check out the main brands e.g. oem side panniers or hepco becker or givi brands.. but of cus, there r other brands around..

I think it's cause they want to clear their promotional fz1 bikes without abs. So he might have said tt. Thank u for the reply. Will be getting the bike in a months time. Can't wait for the ride

No problem just trying to help. No need to. I just ride off normally in the morning.Keeping rpms low until the oil is warmed up. It's just like your muscles. You don't expect to wake up in the middle of the night and then do 100 meters sprint and then swim and then cycle ma. Same with the bike lo.

What bike were you riding previously anyway?

Hi ticks.. yeah you're right about the muscles. This is exactly why I love this forum. Alternative voice to the bike shops who cant really be trusted lol..

I was riding phantom 200 before this. for about 2 years. Kinda lost touch with the nitty-gritty of bikes while riding a phantom (didn't really need to do much for that bike. rarely failed me)

So do people here meetup for rides, supper trips across the causeway etc? When I was riding a cbr400, the group was very alive and we had frequent trips together. Hopefully can meetup some new friends and enjoy memorable rides soon:)
