How to lay up a bike?

Hi... Anyone lay up his bike before? What are the exact procedures to do so?

Must the bike be parked only at a bike shop not at public car parks?

If a bike is laid up, I will get insurance rebate right?

you need to go LTA 2nd floor to do lay up and it cost around $6 for the administrative fee. the bike can be parked at the car park which u specified, but it is advised that once you decisioned that place, you should not move it to other place. there will no be insurance rebate, it keeps on running.

 

thats my experience from laying up my bike.

 

word of caution: do not ride a lay up bike around, it is a hellish offence if found guilty. will be sent to the 'bottom of the stage' without mercy.

 

procedure for re licence your bike after lay up: get your bike to be inspected and get that inspection cert. get ur insurance renewed if expired. bring this 2 thing + log card (just in case) to lta 1st floor to get ur road tax.

u mean there is no insurance rebate?

Even if my insurance ends in july but i intend to lay up in may?

u better call ur insurance company and check.

 

road tax will be rebated for sure from lta.

 

insurance wise, i did not receive any letter regarding rebate from the company

Riding a bike that is laid up IS an offence, not the other way around

Laid up = declare to LTA that the bike will not be on-the-road, so that you can waive your rd tax.

 

overhaul = open up the engine to service/repair the components inside.
