Hi, everyone, I am new to this forum, owner of a rw 125 .. recently I was being introduced by the cka mechanic for an engine modification to 200cc for $400.

and when I was there he was in the process of modifying a FX plate 125rw to tat 200cc piston. he show me the piston size,, it really looks big as compare to the original one....

just curious,, has anyone done this modification.??

( I know this is illegal, but they claim tat it will not be detected during the inspection, but my question is how do they know, because if I am not wrong,,, the oldest rw in Singapore still have not gone thru the inspection yet...).

here are some of my other concerns if to modify...

1) will it be reliable ? eg.. engine gets overheated easily.

2) if the piston is slightly more than 200cc,, then if detected,, there will be an extra offence if we only have class 2B.

3) will the fuel consumption be much increase..?

If rw 125 can be modified to 200cc for more power without problems (illegal & mechnical ), I think $400 should be ok to spend....

anyone has more info about this ?

anyone modified already ?

anyone has any other comments ?

hey foster... this is my 2cents onthe 200cc mod.

Rw, really need an engine upgrade. since 125cc is actually not enough to pull it smoothly giving lot's of vibrations, 200cc would give it an extra push. there are time when i ride my rw, and there's no vibes, i feel like floating. imagine wad a 200cc can do.

- recently I was being introduced by the cka mechanic for an engine modification to 200cc for $400

which outlet did u go to? $400 is ex, but the 200cc offer what does it gives to the bike. ask him, how much and far can it go? look at phantom, it's 200cc is nothing. look at sp, 150cc but lost to tzm which is 135cc without problems. should ask the mech more in details. if it jus give another 10km, it's a waste.

-just curious,, has anyone done this modification.??

in this thread no.

-1) will it be reliable ? eg.. engine gets overheated easily.

yes it will give u more power. like how some rxz fly in expressways. my bro can go up to 180km. a fren of mine cleared his rpm meter. as engine overheated , u must ask st soh.

-2) if the piston is slightly more than 200cc,, then if detected,, there will be an extra offence if we only have class 2B.

bro, even if u change ur signal light, it's an offence.(to some tp tt is.) as long as it's not detected, it's not an offence. however, engine upgrade is very difficult to be detected by teepee on the spot as the upgrade is inside, and there's no visual proof. if go through inspection, it's a different thing. usually, inspection, they won't check engines.(some ppl say lo)

-3) will the fuel consumption be much increase..?

of course. the bigger engine u have, most likely it would drain ur fuel. u got money to pay for fuel, than nothing's a problem. right??

As for me, if it's good, i'll try. cause i'm not selling my rw for a long time. i'll make as much mod to it cause i'll keep it till must send for scrap. i'm happy with the rw. i'm not a speed freak u see, jus want to get to another destination on time. if u want raw speed, get class 2.(agreed by all of us here).

Lastly, welcome my fren to the RW comunity!!:thumb:

where u staying anyways?

Thanks very much for all your comments guys....

I think perhaps I may modify to 200cc after my original piston is old and worn out.

( perhaps 3-4 years later... hee hee... I'm just using my bike for transport, not for speed. )

by the way,,, how much KM do you guys change your engine oil ?

the owners manual state 4000km

but the mechanic at CKA Bukit Batok recomend every 2000km

( I stay near there )

so far ( for the past 1 year ), I always change every ~ 2000km

I have not tried changing it every 4000km. ( anyone do so before )

looking at the gt125r or gt250r, i was thinking of changing to their inverted fork. since both our bikes are big; do u think it can fit?

btw, uncle soh, saying the upgrade is really 200cc, y can't it up the speed to let's sat 130/km or 150/km? if u say it's the spoc ratio, than can i say if i change to tzm's spoc ratio or hornet's ratio, i can to the speed faster?

cause it's funny if changing the piston doesn't change the speed. take rxz for example, stock piston won't make it go faster, but my bro jus half bore his piston, he gets to 180km at tuas.(after a long pull)

hey foster, which cka offers u that over bore deal? the main or the one at jurong?

hi jagger, I went to the one at bukit batok midfield building. You are interested in the 200cc modi ?? They can finish the job in just one afternoon....and lend you a bike to use for the day...

download the latest 2006 aprilia rs125 tested by netherland moto magazine.

on a race track, stock rs125 max speed

i managed close to 160 kph on my stock mito (the 7 gear model)!!!

But i know the older genre italian stallions like Aprilia Extrema and Mitos can hit such speeds. After 2000, the restricted the bikes to

But enuf of speed now....too risky :giddy:

tried on ECP toward Changi aiport after Bedok exit...at that time...speed cameras were just introduced...u know the one where they had to use the police van to transport..that was in 1999/2000....the very bulky one....i tried out together with a Ducati Monster...verified that meter on the Duke was @ 150+ kph while side to side with him while mine was close to 160. Maybe by error adjustment...could be that i was travelling at 140...maybe....but to see the meter hitting such speeds was really one of a kind! I think u should understand!

Either way...it was a really fun and thrilling bike! And going at speeds above 130+ is really damn scary!

oh ya....i just changed my air filter to K&N RC1130....courtesy of Roy....had to remove the entire air box, battery compartment and fuel tank just to fix the bugger!

All in all, the sound was "oohh" just like the old days of riding a race bike...the sound of the air being sucked into the carb...:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Pick up was better than stock, using mj 98 with slot 3, air screw still at 2 1/4

I'll take a pic of it tomorrow after i clean my bike....haha

Total cost was $100++ after installation

Hi Jagger

Yup...$100++ for everything including parts and assembley. Do note that the 1130 is a cylindrical type not a tapered cone type. so it will touch the support frame a bit.

However bike feels more perky and going up slopes in second gear wont be a problem anymore. Top end still the same since gear ratio unchanged. But acceleration improves significantly :cheer: :cheer:

And the sound...oooh the sound.....
