glad tat u r ok with minor injuries.

don't worry so much about the bike.

human body is more important than any machine.

do get his particulars like his insurance, taxi plate.

make a police report about this accident.

ur bike probably still at accident location, call bike ambulance tell them toll to cka-BB.

if not, will be at police compound, they can provide civilian toll services.

check with cka-BB whether can they do the insurance claim against the taxi.

i believe they can do claim on ur behalf, provide particulars to them.

take care, always be aware.

cka BB i heard from other ppl is good at chop carrot head..

is it for real ?..

Hello,

I am a very new rider.

A gentlemen offered to sell me his 3 yr old roadwin fy plate for 1.2k.

However the catch is that i have to change the following things

1)Brake pads

2)Tyres

3)Air Filter

4)Brake Fluid

I have physically taken a look at the bike and since im new i could only judge from the exterior which is in a rather filthy condition. I am just afraid there are more problems to this bike than meets the eye.

The cost breakdown is as follows:

Bike - $1200

Insurance - $450 (AXA 3rd party)

Tyres - $200

Road tax - $80

Brake Pads - $24

Air Filter - $25

Brake Fluid - $15

Grand Total - $1994

Transfer fee's will be covered by the previous owner.

I just need a more experienced riders' opinion on whether this is a good deal or not because this is gonna be my first bike ever and i dont wanna make a silly mistake.

i bought mine for 3600..

down pay 1000

own 2600..

10% interest rate to pay thru out for 3 yrs..

that makes

1000 + 2600 + 260 + 260 + 260 that makes around 4380.

i got conned..

some more mine is FX plate.

hi raden,

vibration very, very strong coz my compression had increased so much. tzm carb if ori at m'sia to be around rm 250 - rm 300. gearbox no need to change only need to re-setting and lay a few parts.

my advise bro, if u plan to mod the engine make sure the mech knows wat he is talking about. this daelim engine is very complicated. if not carefull can cost u a new bike price. furthermore, my mod takes abt 3 months and there are still some more works to be done b4 i can get the most out of my daelim. the sound....like superbike.

Great job bro!!....but i have a feeling that uncle soh will tell you that the speedo is inaccurate.....hehe

Anyways, try getting someone who drives to tail you and see what speed you are clocking. That way, you'll have a 'control' set for your mod experiment.

hi raden,

just completed test run. my roadwin reach 130km but i dun believe it because the meter wire i'm using is not the original one (yamaha rxz meter wire). ask a fren to follow and he said his rxz meter is 150km. haven't try full throttle but guessing can reach 170km ++. u ask before if roadwin can attached other carb. i'm using tzm carb. attaching pics. meantime, dont know is singapore model are same as malaysia. my bike accndg to my mech, the gearbox had a locking mechanism. if u add parts or modify the piston (change to bigger one..etc) is still can only run 110km as happened to my bike. but after modifying my gearbox, it change completely.

cost me abt rm 3000 for the modification but i feel it's worth it.

Amsoil or Maxima, both have highest mg Molybdenum ingredients which i don't preferred.

Molybdenum is solid, use mostly as anti-frictional as like motor oil (car use).

stsoh, there is a misunderstanding here, Moly disulphide is solid and cause clutch slip and is not used in 4T. MoDTC is used in Maxima oils, is not solid, and won't cause clutch slip! If it does, then the products won't meet JASO MA specs. Only the Ultra has the MoDTC content, Extra don't have.

Hi David,

tks fr the msg. Currently i'm using Yamaha TZM 150 cc carb. It doesn't mind wat carb u plan to use but u must make "a neck" so it can attend to the high pressure.

Abt the gearbox, as i mentioned be4, after mod done to my engine (i.e change piston to a bigger one, change carb etc) my bike still stuck at 110km. However, i notice that something is blocking my engine to go much further (which it can). after consulting a few frens, we manage to pinpoint the problem. it seems my bike gear ratio had been locked so that it top speed does not exceed 110km. So my mech reset the gear ratio and after that my bike manage to go more than 110km. No idea wat he did but accndg to him, he reset all the stock setting. Would u believe me if i told u my rear sprocket is 35. I use 33 be4 (the smallest that can fit roadwin) but 35 suits my engine much better.

attaching pic of carb.

cheers

nazri

hello everybody,

I've purchased my daelim roadwin already and spent $800++ on repairs...

anyway uncle soh... of all the simple mods that u do which do u reccomend to increase pick up speed and reduce vibrations... these are the only 2 factors im interested about (not top speed and all)

cheers.

Nazri_Port Dickson => after mod done to my engine (i.e change piston to a bigger one, change carb etc)

what kind of bigger piston have you put inside ? size ? diameter ?, have you modified your cylinder too ?

ok thanks for carb informations. to you know the diameter venturi of this carb ? TZM is a 4 strokes bikes ?

(i have try a 30mm but it is to bigger, maybe 26 or 28mm is good)

stsoh => thanks you for informations i have put 15/42 :o) it is better for me.

thanks for the info but i find it unusual high as compared to others.

You come across as pretty well read on the subject of 4T, you should know that nothing is 'usual' about how Maxima formulates; from the high ester content, the additive package, to the type of esters used. You can't expect unusual performance from a usual product!

Min oil friction for wet clutch is dictated by JASO MA, it doesn't matter what additive they use as long as they meet the requirements. Maxima specialises in motorcycle, they know very well the requirements of wet clutch. They also make special low friction grade of Ultra in 0W10 and 0W30, but they made it clear it is not JASO MA unlike the Ultra 5W40/5W50 and Extra 10W40/15W50.

http://www.maximausa.com/products/4stroke/maxum4ultra0.asp

Don't read too much into the Mo content, as long as it is JASO MA, it works for wet clutch. Moly is a good thing (and expensive additive) as it is one of the most effective extreme pressure antiwear additive to date.
