I just fork out ard $3oo to change the magnetic coil thingy. I dunno wat it do but the guy at bb br told me that my bike not charging. So I chge battery, the magnetic coil thingy, plug cap (I accidentally break it when changing spark plug) and 1 more stuff. Total add up near $300. My magnetic coil thingy was burnt when the guy took it out. How this came about? I just cannot start my bike. Every light on the bike have but the bike just cannot start. No rev sound only got sound like clicking coming from the right side of my bike. So got it tow another $$. Can someone xplain to me what this magnetci coil thingy and how it can burnt?

 

Yup, this will happen.....most prob they changed your rectifier and your coil. Both cost a bomb but it will happen eventually....eletrics mah.....bound to fail one day or another same like all mechanical parts....only difference is time. It could also be that you may have shorted your CDI other than the rectifier. CDI is found below your rear seat

Stsoh bro..

My fuel gauge seems to be crazy now. I dunno why so sudden? I didn't touch anything regarding the fuel system unit. It shows 1/4 tank fuel left on the gauge but the truth is only the reserve litre left when I check through the fuel cap. What is possibly goes wrong? I was on NSH when my RW start jerking begging for fuel. Lucky me that our RW been equipped with reserve tank which allow me to find nearest petrol station.

A friend of mine do ride a roadwin, gosh he did many changes on his bike, the cool thing is that he had a remote contrl starter to switch the engine just by pressing the remote cntrl. My current bike is comet gt125 nked, looks the same though when we ride 2gether, the only differences is that comet fuel tank looks bigger, other part of it all the same. Wish this two model could be part 2gether in the future. Hope there will be.

i didn't have this problem b4, last time encounter was fuel leak from the sensor, problem was solved by replacing seal.

 

i recalled was lostjacket having erratic fuel gauge, not sure whether did he solve his problem.

 

by any chance u r not pumping shell petrol, i'm asking becoz fuel have additives.

some additives have cleaning ability might coz the float contact of sensor inability to sense it's position.

my advice is try other petrol brands/type like shell/petrona/mobil/esso/bp/caltex/95/98/super/v-power/premium/etc, other than the current fuel.

 

or fuel gauge needle somehow stuck on the 1/4.

when u switch off can the needle goes down to rock bottom??

 

Umm I c..

Currently i'm using Petronas. Had tried Shell V-Power before and the response was marvellous. But its kinda expansive petrol product here.

 

My fuel gauge didn't stuck on 1/4 when I switch off. As U said, the needle goes down to rock bottom. Yes, it moving. And yesterday when I fill up fuel (full tank up to filler neck) at the nearest petrol station, the needle just indicate there is 3/4 tank of fuel inside. Hmm..

 

By the way, i tried doing short circuit to the tank unit terminal as per Service Manual Troubleshooting section sez. The needle moving up to 'F' (Full Tank) in second. So i assume the terminal didn't cause any problem in supplying electric flow to the fuel unit sensor. Might be the sensor unit itself.

A little update on my bike.. Been acting crazy last 2 months..

1) Fuel consumption suddenly increased, power gone.. Diagnosis = Carberator Failure - $225 with labor.

2) Engine difficult to start, later starter din work (no sound).. Diagnosis = Starter Coil/Recoil? Failure - $45.

3) Fuel Gauge as good as dead.. No action taken so far.. Using Mileage as guide..

 

Both are painful in the pocket..

i do have problems in my fuel gauge too...

is it a begining of it going to be spoil... it kept going up n down whenever i

throttle....

The other thing is that my speedometer, whenever it reaches 90kmh, it stood there but feel that the bike is moving faster than that speed, when do open full throttle the bike goes fast n suddenly my spdometer fussssh goes up to 120kmh.....

wat actually causes this thing.........

Nope...learnt to live with it....roy said something to do with the instrument unit...could be a caliper or a retaining clip broke so gauge needle wobbles up and down while riding so no point changing since the reading is still ok on halts.

fuel level indicator possible faults r sensor or gauge.

 

speedometer indicator possible faults r gauge, cable (part of the cable is about to break) or coupling lugs broken during improper installation when the front tyre was removed.

 

If you had changed your front tyres recently then very likely your coupling logs are broken or abt to break. Almost had this happen during my tyre change last time, inform the taokay to refit the rims again.

Second hand starter? $45 is quite cheap for that part....
