hey dudes,

i've been riding my bike for a few months after swapping out my stock front rim and i realised there's still a sizing prob...

stock cbr900rrv front rim (16") fits a 130/70-16 tyre, the nsr250r/se front rim (17") that i swapped in fits a 110/70-17 tyre.

as i'm using a 120/70-17 tyre now, the curvature (aspect?) of the tyre is quite extreme, compared to other bikes...while the bike has started giving me more feedback since i got rid of the 16" rim, the funny shape of the tyre's cross-section on the new rim still causes the bike to dip scarily when cornering...

so now i'm having a little headache here, should i swap out for another front rim that was made to fit 120/70-17 tyres, or get a 110/70-17 tyre for the current rim in use?

help...meeee...

hi bro... long time no hear from u....

about your tire sizing problem, what brand/model of the tyre you are using ?(i'm hoping the answer is not bridgestone)

about the dipping during cornering part, i was having this problem during my 130/70-16 time.. before i swapped rims. tried before many bridgestones BT010, BT014, pirelli diablos, dunlop 207RR... all have the scary dipping problem during fast sweepers. the only neutral feeling i had was on the metzeler MeZ3... much lesser dipping.

but once i changed the front rim to the 17" ( many thanks to CBR379 ) its a CBR400 rim... which the CBR400 uses a 110/70 profile too.. i fitted a 120/70-17 sportec m-1, the feedback is much better than a 16" with totally no dipping feeling during corners. very very stable for me. so i think its not the rim sizing problem...

my feeling is:

either the tyre needs to be replaced cos its overdue or too worn out.....

or

check your front wheel bearings / axle / spacers. once its worn, it makes the front end very, very unstable too.
