Ok just picked up the bike and running into a couple of problems:

Apparently all these problems are water-related (i.e rain got to them), but the engineering can't be that shitty right? The bike was parked in the open (without cover) the whole day in the rain.

1) Front cylinder cuts out and misfires after heavy rain

Problem goes away when the bike is ridden around for about 10min.

2) Lights don't light up

Again, they intermittently come on but I was riding around for 10min with only the parking light.

So don't envy me xiaowang... there's a lot of work to be done on this bike yet =)

Can anyone confirm if these problems are indeed water related? Took a peek behind the head fairing and whoever did the wiring must have been a rank amateur. (or lazy)

There are 650 riders complaining their master cylinder doesn't fire up as well, but I have never experienced this problem myself so far since riding it December last year.

The wiring might be out. I need to redo mine as well; If you want we could meet up and fix up the wiring together :thumb:

Will strip the fairing tonight and do some work on the lighting circuit (clean and WD40 connections, use a proper wire to wire connector instead of a wire splice)

Over the weekend, I plan to replace the stock spark plug caps and HT leads with NGK racing ones... which should be more waterproof. Will need to grease em up good too. We'll see how it goes. =)

I've taken over Yeoman's bike.

Maybe its time for a meet up guys, anyone on for JB ride and/or DIY session?

Ok, lights are back to normal again.... as Yeoman mentioned, they would be fine after they dry out.

Still not what I want out of my bike... I'll give the wiring a once over during the weekend.

NGK plug caps and cable cost $45-$50 each at Regina before bargaining. Funny thing is, they retail in the US for USD$19

I might be adding a box or side cases, we'll see how it goes =)

Glad to hear that. Time for you to start thinking how to water proof the bike though. :cheeky:

Moreover, the whole bike's full of curves...then suddenly behind one squarish thingy...the looks department totally out liao :faint:

Well, I think that it would be waste to use my Planet as a commuter and the SV400 as a weekend bike.... the only way to merge the 2 is a boxed SV400... muahahahah :hungry:

I got a GIVI PL SIDE PANNIER Rack lying around. You want? I was about to pose on EBAY USA to sale...

it will look like this with a E34 box, except I didn't buy the PL top box rack. I intended to mod the Top box rack in as the price is freaking ex! and attachment is simple to mod... The right side is the PL rack...

After fitting the side boxes, it totally spoil the agile look... So I dismantle it until maybe I go touring (donno when...) Any GIVI rack competible box can be attached need not be that big... you can attached those small side boxes too.

use tankbag or tailpack or soft panniers la bro, at least they dont spoil the look of the bike and dont need installation of a rack. i also looking for 2nd hand soft panniers, givi and oxford ones look nice.

"no top box" is the unspoken rule of SV owners

Dis is how an sv would look like with side cases and back boxes

if u must get boxes get the hepco and becker juniour side panniers they are lovely

I think sports saddle bags look decent on the SV. IMHO much more pleasing to the eyes than hard boxes. To each his own, though.
