True enough, Harley maintenance is relatively afforable if go to Sumsoon or Sunburst. Before I bought a harley, I was comparing to a honda shadow. it's about the same, only diff is the spark plugs, shadow has 4. harley got 2. Belt can go up to 80,000km. Relatively economic. For starters or guys who's afraid they might have problems in maintaining a harley, you might want to try a 2nd hand sportster.

16K on a new Harley - coil replaced under warranty, no other faults. No leaks. No breakdowns. Reasonable service charges. Friendly service and showroom people. But beware the Lust To Customize... it can get expensive.

imho, its true that nowaday harley looks more like japanese bike, feel like japanese, sound like japanese than anything else or worst a phantom...

most jap make crusier r taking harley bikes as example in terms of design...

1 gd example: Steed springer tat look so much like Softail Springer classic

 

guess tats to satisfy those cruiser riders that wanted a harley looking bike but not tat sky high price ba...

hmm,ok... rephrase my opinion. 'nowaday', harley has improve 'nowaday', so much so the engine is as reliable as a japanese bike, no more oil leak 'nowaday' unlike older design, the ride is as smooth as japanese bike 'nowaday' with latest balancer and shorter crank in their engine 'nowaday' unlike the older stroker engine famous for being called the giant vibrator and best of all, 'nowaday' it sound as quiet as a japanese bike, with converter and chambers in the exhaust 'nowaday' like the japanese bike. 'nowaday' my neighbour may think its a phantom coz he know nuts about bike but heard of harleys, hope this my rephased opinion ok to you guys...

the sale of the bike... hmmm still for sale lor! haha not moving at all. if there's totally no choice i'll have to give it in to SunHogs. they have a BEAUTIFUL heritage turned fatboy there! sheesh... but i'll make quite a loss if i trade it in there so wanna try to sell it off 1st.. if really can't then i'll have no choice. backside itchy and in need of a new saddle soon man!

RK ah.. wow.. recently the there was this white RK for sale wad.. for something like slightly over $20k only.. year 03 or 02 i think.. forgot already but it was damn sweet la. think the dealership was selling it.

 

i never thought of getting a RK actually... getting it means NO modifications and unfortunately, i can't do that! so im most likely getting a softail or sportster custom. just eyeing that one at sunhogs until my bike gets sold!

hahah thats what i was worried abt.. the sportster looking too small but i dunno la really in 2 minds now. and worst still if i cannot sell my bike. have to trade it in for a loss.

the dilemna is if i get a sportster, i'd put apes on, forward ctrls and keep the whole bike matt black with the exception of the chrome parts. if it's a softail, then i'd keep the whole bike bright maybe with whitewalls.. haha so i dunno which style i like better. but currently it's the softail la.
