hey guys

i ride an 06 883r n I can't seem to pump my tyres at the normal petrol pumps as the air pump can't fit into the space. any ideas or tips on how u guys pump urs?

many thanks!

rear tyres should have no problem. the problem lies with the front tyres only.

I stop by a workshop and ask if i can borrow their air. usually no problem. and they use a t shaped air pump so it's easier to fit.

Never had a problem last time leh. But yea, when you change your tyres, ask them to fit the angled valve for you at the same time. Cheap cheap saves a lot of hassle.

13-spoke front wheel with dual disc brakes? Yeah, that's a b!tch to pump. Like what the guys say, pump at bike shops or change the valve stem to a "L" shaped one.

:btw: PBS, I think you had no problem cos yours has only a single disc up front? correct?

I understand what you are talking about.

There are some petrol stations which have air pumps that do not use the "rod" type. try SPC. i realise that majority of other stations use the rod type.

otherwise you can get it pumped up at a car tyre shop.

cheers

Harley-Davidson in advanced talks to buy Italy's MV Agusta

MILAN (Thomson Financial) - U.S. motorbike manufacturer Harley-Davidson is in advanced talks to buy Italy's MV Agusta, the daily Messaggero reported, without citing any sources.

According to Messaggero, the deal would see Harley-Davidson (nyse: HOG - news - people ) buy out most of the debt of MV Agusta, currently at around 200 million euros -- 130 million euros held by banks and 70 million euros held by suppliers.

The operation would envisage a write off of part of the debt, Messaggero said.

Harley-Davidson wants to write off about 35 percent of the debt but the banks and suppliers want that amount reduced to at least 30 percent.

Intesa Sanpaolo SpA holds debt of MV Agusta of about 95 million euros, Messaggero said.

The paper said Harley-Davidson could buy 80-85 percent of MV Agusta's capital, leaving businessman Claudio Castiglioni with 15-20 percent.

Castiglioni currently owns 29.6 percent of MV Agusta while 65.4 percent is owned by finance company Gevi, Messaggero said.

no, SPC doesnt only use the hose type.

They also use the rod type.

but amongst the petrol stations i have come across, SPC and Caltex are the only two which still have hose type although not every of their stations.

You're right Kiamh. But now my current bike has dual disc also ok leh. Maybe less spoke. Heee. It's just a matter of finding the right angle. My rear tyre is a ***** to pump with the chain and everything blocking.

Different stations have different pumps too. I remembered when I tried to pump 1st time it was ok. 2nd time I went to forgot which station and the pump wouldn't fit. I just left and went to another station.

@shortie:

Try Caltex stations. Most Caltex stations in the West are not 'rod' type pumps but flexi hose type. I believe they should be the same in the East.

But yes. When time permits, do change out to an L shaped valve stem. I have saddle bags and hot pipes and if not for my L shaped valve stem, it would be impossible to pump air.

Cheers

Some tech question. Does % rake front end affect the upper tree? Or only the bottom tree?

Some tech question. Does % rake front end affect the upper tree? Or only the bottom tree?

If I read your question correctly, the answer is "It affects both."

however some people do compromise by only lengthening forks and not changing triple trees, this does not really change the rake angle at all.

It gives the rider the effect of a raked ride due to change in ride heights on the front end versus the back.

Are you trying an "Easy Rider" mod?
