Oh dear...... seems like this sheng... sheng... sound is spreading to everybody... mine is coming from the front... Dude, try to brake using the front brakes and brake gently to prolong the braking distance, see during that interval, is there any sound. Initially, i also thought it was the clutch, and that when i clutch in, no sound. But i was wrong, it was the brakes.

So u prob solved?????

initially i tot its from the front. But it seems like the shhhhhh sound cuming from the CARB area.. like the suction sound...I also confuse now... ok ..'ll try ur method C how... Thanks Bro....

fcuking pissed

allen bolt got rounded, wanted to add a rack but the bolt on the sissybar refuses to budge, and damn cheap quality bolts at that...

URGH!

Worst case, drill hole in the middle of the bolt and undo it from there. Sorry to be blunt but that's the worst case when such things happen

There is a tool that can help you remove rounded bolts and nuts, it looks like a C clamp and will tighten against the rounded bolt when you apply pressure. I use that to remove rounded screws and nuts on airplane with much success.

not too sure what it looks like but i guess i know how it works, but i dun think it's easy to use on a mushroom head bolt

Had my fair share of Harley problems today.

Came back after work to take the R out to play tennis.

Turned the key and cranked the engine.

Suddenly the bike blacked out on me.

No lights, no ignition, nothing, blankness.

Was in a hurry to go play tennis so i took the car.

While playing, I kept on trouble shooting in my mind, how that can happen.

Upon reaching home after tennis, I checked every single fuse and confirm none blown. then I stripped out the battery and tested the strength by simply connecting the ERP unit. Beep, it went. then I brushed the connection points and reconnected it to the mains again.

Turned on the key and Voila the lights and ignition came on.

Cranked up and the Sporty roared instantly. Fitted everything back on and went for a "victory" ride.

I guess the connection point was either disconnected due to vibration or oxidization.

Posting this so that other HD riders who face this may have some support to

DIY and troubleshoot on their own.

Something similar happened to me before twice. Sometimes fuses get lose. There's on starter fuse hidden somewhere inside. Everything works. Lights and all except it wouldn't start. My friends learnt that the hard way, by push starting me. heee.

That was the 2nd time. 1st time I can't remember. In the end I just towed it to Rosli. Need to think what happened. No lights no nothing.

+1. My bike died on me once before at Tiong Bahru market. Made a quick phone consultation & was given the diagnosis of loose batt connection. Bought a number 10 spanner from a nearby hardware shop & had the bike alive in 5 minutes.

I was also told its a common problem :p due to the vibrations.

(p/s: That same spanner is still in my tool bag)

You guys got to show me all the points where fuse/plugs tends to be loose tonight, so that i will be able to know where to check if it happens to me. Towing will be the last resort.

I'm looking for rider footpeg heel rest for my Dyna. Went to e-bay to take a look but quite limited. Any of you guys have any good website for me to take a peek. Cheers & Regards.

Try this:

http://kuryakyn.com/index.asp

You should be able to find a lot of nice footpeg / heal rest here. The quality and fitting is as good if not better than HD OEM imho.

Most experts aren't...and research is the difference between speculation and investment.

Push starting is a basic skill that all bikers should learn.

Not difficult at all.

Here are the steps.

1. find a slope and push the bike up (hardest part)

2. turn on ignition and kick to 2nd gear

3. sit on bike, clutch in and chiong down the slope.

5. let the bike gather speed, hopefully up to 20km/hr

6. release clutch and open throttle, taking note to clutch back in and control throttle once bike fires up.

7. put bike on sidestand and give yourself a pat.

You can forget the rest of the steps especially point 7 if you can't get pass point no. 1. Ha ha. Like what Ting said, i'll pay good money to watch someone push it up the slop, especially a Softail. Anyways, good to know. Cheers

1. Jump start using another bike/car

or

2. Remove the battery

3. Bring it to any shop and ask them to give it a 30 min charge. It will either be free if not maybe cost you $10?

not that difficult lah, I've done it on 300kg bike before.

Just push up a gradual slope with a fairly ok distance.

Depending on how much you pay me, I'll show you using an E-glide

haha

the tougher part is finding that slope.

========================================

I've push started lighter bikes by running along and hopping on.
