so its been coming 1 month for my 48 experience .... tot i write a little review for those looking for some local view to the 48..

 

Being my 1st harley..and after riding it for weeks now, i realize why there is such a following... pretty much sum with one word... torque and lots of it. Of cos of u have a a kinda similar feel riding a hayabusa. But combine the v-twin engine growl , low riding position and a forward controls... it takes riding to another level. The bike is happy to cruise along 100km/h ish all day long.. need to overtake that road hog? just twist the throttle and u will be off just like that...

 

Surprisingly the 48 handles pretty well.. it feels planted thur the corners and stable when u are throttling hard... Being 1.8m (5'10) in height, the positioning of the pegs seat and handle bar is pretty much spot on for me.. very comfortable.. one thing though.. i would strong recommend new 48 owners to consider swapping the stock seat for the HD springer seat set up... its a world of difference. the Springer seat will put u up by an inch ... doesn't really sound much but it does make the ride much more comfortable... Whats more important is that the springer set have that curve up on the back of the seat which the factory one does not have... so when u are on the factory seat, and throttling hard... u will find yourself slowly being push back off the seat and might even end up seating on the rear fender... With the springer seat.. the back curve holds you in place very well...

 

I swap out the exhaust for the SE header and slip ons (Black of cos). Sound wise it makes a world of difference... The stock sound comes off like an loud sewing maching... with the SE slip ons... Its bassy and loud, but not super loud, which helps me to be on my HDB neighborhood good grace.Another reasoning for SE slips on ... is personally i love the way the stock looks and want to retain the same look. Farther more being a practical guy... having a slip ons and being close to stock , i kinda hope the bike on stay on the TP friendly side. I would think slip ons will be easier to swap out ( just in case i decide to DIY) for those pesky inspection and what not.

 

To help the exhaust swap, which in turn will cause the engine to run lean... I went with the cheaper alternative , instead of the Power commander v and a dyno tune, which cost abt 1k to 1.5kish . i went with the nightrider X14ied , its basically an injection enricher device... thus its call IED... what it does , is that it trick the CPU to spray more fuel (6% thur out the band i believe) . Thus it will run the bike at 14.0 fuel air ratio.. All in all, the bike now runner much smoother and cooler ... and like most people that uses the IED the exhaust does sounds deeper.... I have to say the x14ied does NOT increase your HP , unlike a proper dyno tune power commander set up.. it just makes ur stage 1 set up ride smoother.

 

I have a question though... does anyone know if there is any difference between stock headers and the se ones? Cos coming from mod bikes and car scene , i usually replace the entire exhaust (header + end cans) due to the fact that the stock headers are small in diameter compared to the aftermarket ones. When i saw that SE have headers too... i went with this reasoning and purchase them together... Strangely the boys at Twin Performance ( Good chaps all) told me that the headers are pretty much the same. Are they right?

 

Anyway i think i babble for too long now... this are the mods that i did, and more review from them... coming up will be an air intake ( i know i know.. should have done it together with the exhaust .. but the wife acceptance factor is reigning its head, so i have to back off for now.. ) Looking for the joker machine ones... find them sweet as hell....

 

and oh.. for those with some time to burn...

this builder in japan is way cool.... love the style..

Was comtemplating of getting the SE slips on from the dealer for my fatboy but was put off by the fact that they only have the slased ones which imo did not fit the look of my bike...

btw came across a out pof production model of slip on by rinehart in ebay ..which clearly state its for softails.

But when I email them to ask if it fit my fatboy... they say it doesnt... funny??

anyway check this out ... and if there is anykind soul who knows if it fit my fatty.. pls advise..

Becoz of your "assurance" I went on to put a bid on the muffler......... and guess wat.....I won the bid...

NOW I potentially have 2 sets of stock pipes and muffler and a set of rinehart muffler...

And if the rinehart dont fit... I WILL BLAME YOU!!!!!.... HAHAHAHAHA.. [Just joking la fren]

 

Anyway... Since I now have 2 set of stock pipies for fatboy [With satin chrome muffler]... If anyone need them for inspection... pls call me.. and help me defray some cost of this aquisition..[ie rent from me la]..PM me..

 

And also ... I bought a K&N cone type filter [the heavy breather type] from ebay... they suppose to fit my Ah Pui...just want to check if anyone had them on and advise to give...
