for my 3 cents worth.....696.

enuf power, looks and save on insurance road tax..

monsters need not go like a speed demon...jus need to look like one only

i do agree with u, i think its not a necessary to speed crazily.

i m those type tat prefer slightly powerful bike, i mean like when u need power jus throttle it. or else one wil think ,aih, i need a more powerful bikes, what else should i upgrade my bike to.

the 696 is nice only if it come with dry clutch system then tat wil be consider perfect.

As everyone know that a ducati bike doesnt come complete with its dry clutch system, those sound which appear like music to me but to others it might be problem.

i like Ducati is due to its sound, loook, originality of it. its jus wonderful.

  hope i can own one soon. aihh:shades:

thanks for your replies. mine's a 99 M400. Mike did all the necessary when he took the bike apart for re-spraying. I dont gun the throttle but drive along the Singapore F1 route on a daily basis (100% city riding). Hmm... 21km/litre is indeed a far cry from what I am getting.

yes there's a problem..!! A pre 1997 monster 400 should do @ least 19km to 21km per liter.. mine does 21km per liter.. think ur air filters or carb should be dirty.. get it service.. example: wash carb, air filters and proper tuning... it helps.. cheers..

Last weekend during our memorial rides with lots of ducatis' with of course termis pipes all the way. When we stopped at a traffic light junction along Kampong Java. Guess what??? 2 TPs' were beside us, they only smiled at us and later they even " open the road" and let all the ducati's to go ahead..Kind of VIP feeling...:bouncefire:

Haha wow that's real cool man ... :shades: Too bad I didn't had that chance ... (when I was a Ducatisiti)

Hi,

depends on what you looking at, your riding style etc etc. I have been riding a HD VRSCR street rod for 2 years and bot a monster s4rs recently. However, when I go out on a yellow harley with really loud pipes, most people would look at me (if thats what u want), drivers would roll down their windows and give me the thumbs up, tourists come up to me to "post" and take photos with my bike.

Have not happened to me while riding the S4RS yet.

In terms of torque, power, top speed, handling, technology, branded parts (brembo, ohlins) etc etc, the ducati wins hands down and at a cheaper price too.

But if you are just looking at handling and top speed, might as well buy a K4 hayabusa at just 1/3 the price.

Hope I have not confused you further. Ha Ha.

I guess you probably look too fierce/go too fast on the Monster, so nobody really has the guts/chance to do anything except for wondering what was that thing that just roared pass them. Another reason could be that the Harley is on a leisurely pace. The Monster is on a much faster pace. :p

The Monster might not be as fast as other bikes, but you can't help reving it and wanting to go fast when you're on it. And the S4RS is definately fast enough in Singapore traffic. :p

BTW is your Monster wearing a pair of Termis? That could make a LOT of difference hehe. How I wish I have the mola to still have a Monster by my side. Enjoy your Monsters. :shades:

There's going to be a meet-up tonight.

Location is at Upper Thomson. Take Whatever expressway and then join up to SLE. Exit along Upper Thomson, (think it's number 5), then go towards Sembawang Road for about 200 meters, just before a Shell Station, make a U-Turn, and look for a lot of ducati's in front of a roti prata shop.

If the weather turns foul, we'll postpone this to tomorrow.

it needs attention more than we ones.

There was a used 696 for sale at Minerva just a few days ago.

Can try and talk to Mary over there. I think asking almost 20k, 19k ++

But I tried the 696 once and if you like a bike with high torque, you might be disappointed. would suggest the SR series, at least higher torque and dry clutch. May get a used S2R 1000 for about 20k as well. Just my opinion. Enjoy the search.

Dear z3r0k3wl,

If you guys meet do let me know.

I dun log on too often but would like to find out what else I can add to my bike. Do sms or call me, Brian 98343934

Power is nothing without control. Remember that!!!!

Just bcoz you have the juice, doesn't mean you need to use it all the time. Life is sacred, other lives are beyond priceless.

Enjoy your ride, since we ride because we love to ride. When the rider gets on a mcycle, remember that the motorcycle is controlled by the rider, do not let the mcycle control the rider.

Always always always be aware of the surroundings, the environment, the conditions, and the bike. Don't let distractions get the better of you.

*ok....enuff gpapa posts!*

get a eDUCATIon.............
