Hi all

the red light keeps lighting up every now and then. I have check the EO level. its okay.

any idea what might the cause be?

The Red Light is for Oil Pressure. I am quite sure that it only lights up when the engine is hot. So, while your Engine Oil level may be ok, the oil may be too "thin" when hot. Try using a heavier weight engine oil, like 20w/50.

For those who don't know dodobird, he's SBF Ducati Monster Search Engine. I somehow believe he can answer any questions you throw at him, u might even get the impression that he may be an ex-Minerva mech!

Bruhs, what the maintenance cost and intervals for the m796? I already paid the downpayment and gonna get it soon.how much do u guys fork out per servicing at minerva and at what intervals? Thanks.info from experience riders needed...

The manual says, "1st servicing at 1000km, 12000, 24000" and so on...

For me 1000km to 12000km are way too long.. At least go for normal servicing at 5k to 6k.

Personally i will go for servicing at 1k, 6k, 12k (valve clearance etc) and so on...

And I was told the 12k servicing is quite pricey. Not sure how much.

When are u collecting yr duc? Im staying at bt.batok.. How about a meet up bro? Hehe:)

I got mine through Unique Motorsports which includes installation (additional $100 plus).

After akra, would it be any better to upgrade the oem ecu to aftmarket ones? Besides the boxer-rumble exhaust note, I read somewhere in monsterforum that aftmarket slip-on + aftmarket ecu + aftmarket air filter doesnt make any much diff. Some say got diff in performance, some say no diff.. I am so confused... Bros please share your thoughts and dont flame me! :D

Errmm... Unless u have a thick wallet, i recommend reconsidering that approach.

OEM brake pedal? This term is used differently in different situations. R u refering to ducati part or aftermarket part? Because in the states and europe, OEM refers to aftermarket replacement.

If u r looking for original part, just get it off minerva, its cheap, should be below $100.

Oops. Ducati original part.

Thanks a mil!

Edit: don't mind if anyone wants to unload their stock brake pedal. Or if there's any shop with a high chance of a spare lying around.

Enquiring whom would be interested in a meet up. It would be on a saturday evening/nite.

Pls indicate your interest by copying & pasting the list w/ your name/nick included.

In the event that we do meet, i will arrange for it accordingly outside of the forum. I would only proceed if no less then 10 new bikers are interested to attend.

Hello.. My Monster 696 meter shows 12.6v to 12.8v battery when the engine is switched off.

Is it in a healthy range? Is it reliable to see battery life based on meter? Raymond from bike harbour told me no way to check the battery life span by voltmeter..

Thanks.

Anything above 12v is fine. Any yes he is correct to say that u cant tell the health condition via the voltmeter. U need a battery diagnostic tool. For that anything above 75% is fine.

Hi all,

I'm new to this monster and currently plan to get one' but not sure which model specifically.

1) 696 or 796

Will like to find out from bros here for these 2 specs...thanks in advance,

How about just oil & filter change at 6000, 18000, etc ?

The average budget for maintenance per year for a ducati is about $2k.

Go for the 796. Better power and single side arm.

Valve clearance is mandatory. So is belt change. U dun do these 2, then u can be on your toes.

Just like if a mv agusta owner does not service his wheel bearings every 10kkm. It will spoil and be prepared to pay 1.8k for new parts excluding labour.

Oil alone abt just over 3L + oil filter. Pls refer to your owners manual. Unless we are smarter then the engineers that built a ducati, i dun think anyone wants to risk burning a hole in their wallet. I have my own share of changing out parts within the engine. And parts dont come cheap. Eg: timing gears cost $600usd, starter gears $600usd.

U go to http://www.ducati.com.sg , roll your mouse over the 'BIKES' and select the 'COMPARE BIKES' option.

select your desired year of manufacture, followed by the Monster category, add in the 696 & 796 respectively. U can compare the specs much easier with the details laid out side by side.

Actually not much difference in the details of specs. But as a owner of M696 myself, i will also recommend you the M796. My reason is also the same as robertgl.

cheers!..

Thats the oil pressure sensor. Is the bolt tight? Disconnect the sensor (its just a clip) and see if its oily. If so then the socket is faulty. If not check the threading. If its threading, waterproof grease might be a quick fix.
